Vessel: Grus - ETA Port Hueneme May 8

For anyone tracking Grus, she's currently docked at the port of Bremerhaven preparing to depart Sunday, April 13 with an ETA into Port Hueneme on Thursday, May 8. She is scheduled to stop in Jacksonville, FL; Long Beach, CA; and Port Hueneme, CA. Here is her photo and a snapshot of the AIS radar screen from tonight. (You will find her ship label towards the top right of the AIS radar screenshot.)

I hope my car gets on this ship! It's been waiting at the port only since Thursday... so there may be many ahead of me

Check with your CA, who can check the computer, or check the BMW 1-800 #. Your status should show a ship name by now, hopefully. I know that sometimes they lag.

Here is an update on Grus. Grus is in the middle of the map, a little to the upper left. She has sailed and is just outside of Bremerhaven heading towards the English Channel.

Right now, Grus is probably out in the Atlantic and is not trackable. I don't know all the ports she's stopping at, so that's why I say she's probably out in the Atlantic. I know Grus is going into Jacksonville, FL as one of her first stops, if not her very first stop. She's due into Jacksonville 4/24. She's also going to the port of Long Beach and is due 5/8. Then Port Hueneme also due in 5/8.

Port = JACKSONVILLE |
ETS Name of Ship Ship Agent ETA Port of Loading
13.04.2008 GRUS NYK-LINE 24.04.2008 BREMERHAVEN

If you want to dig around for other ports, here is a handy web site. It is in German, though. Just enter the port name for the "export port", i.e. Jacksonville, Long Beach, Port Hueneme, San Diego, etc. Choose "vehicle carrier" as the ship type. That is where I found the above info. I really don't think she will have other stops because she has so many already.

Here is the port of Jacksonville vessel schedule. Keep an eye on this:
http://www.jaxport.com/sea/vessels.cfm

Grus is due into the Panama Canal region at 5:55 am on 4/29. She's currently scheduled to transit the canal on 5/3 (although it will probably be sooner). It takes 6-7 days to get to SoCal from the PanCanal. Here's the web site for the PanCanal schedule.

http://www.boydsteamship.com/daily_traffic_report.htm

M/V Grus 0555/29/Apr Not booked # 10 AM3rd

You can also keep an eye on www.sailwx.info for any of her weather observation reports and locations. She's a NYK Line ship and probably won't report, but watch the maps just in case.

I know. It is excruciatingly painful. Been there, done that. I am currently on my second order/tracking in a two-year period of time. I know it is hard to imagine now, but after you've had your car one month, two months. . . you will look back and tell yourself "it wasn't that bad" and "what was the big deal?" For now, though, it seems like such a killer wait.

The very worst part are the black holes of time, when you can't actually track your ship. Spend some time reading the other threads for west-coast-bound ships. That will keep you busy and you will pick up some great tracking tips. For example, I would Google to see if the port of Jacksonville has a web camera so you can watch Grus go in and out of port. The Panama Canal has three web cams to watch your ship go through the canal system. I tracked my ship, Hojin, through the PanCanal yesterday on web cams and radar. It will help you keep your sanity, and keep you busy, by digging up information and finding various ways to track your ship.

Ya thanks for the tips. I think I'll spend my next 3 weeks (3 WEEKS!!!) reading up on DIY stuff for the 335. Worst part is I might be on vacation when my car arrives. Quadruple DAMN!

So, where the hell is it. I have been to every website on the web that tracks cargo vehicles in the Atlantic and no one has a position. I know there has to be *someone* that has this information.

Bhueller?

I see that they have entered Sagittarius Leader twice on the list. Maybe one of those entries should be Grus instead. They are both owned by NYK Lines.

You can call the port tomorrow and ask.

Grus is on the port of San Diego schedule for 5/8. It is too far out to look at the port of LA schedule right now. They only post a ship's arrival five days in advance.

Hmm, why is it scheduled for San Diego? I thought Grus is only stopping by Jacksonville, Long Beach and Hueneme. If it's 5/8 for SD does that mean she's behind schedule for Hueneme?
