cobb v3 question
can anyone confirm that the power off button at the top completely turns it off and prevents any battery drain? I'm 99.9% sure this is the case (as why else would they put a power button on the thing), but I can't seem to find any official confirmation - just stories from v1 and v2 users of battery drains, of which i would love to preclude myself from experiencing.
this thing is awesome however. feels like a completely different car. running 93 octane stage 1 aggressive stock throttle bone stock. |

This is what I gathered from watching the YouTube video from a reseller. It was an install how-to and they were showing how fast and easy it was.
Then they mentioned that button when talking about leaving it in the car. Idk about that though. Not sure how much I trust someone not to get sticky hands syndrome if they see it. On a side note, mine gets here Monday! Other upgrades inc for stage 2 |

The install was the longest 20 min of my life. It could be faster. Not sure where/what the limitations are with that but I can't imagine its moving a lot of data so maybe its processing power hamstrung on the car or device. I don't have a battery charger so I'm just sitting in the car sweating (they say not to open the doors/windows once the process starting and i definitely should have rolled the windows down ahead of time) hoping my fucking battery doesnt die. JB4 still has flash tunes beat in that regard. Beat by a million miles. |

Wow, they make it seem quicker, I would've been sweating bullets lol. You plan on going to stage 2 at some point?
I might buy a battery tender if they're not too much. My battery is due for replacement. Don't wanna risk it. Quote:

I probably won't do too many more mods. I need to install this BMS DCI I have and I might get a sypapse chargepipe and bov. Downpipes are an obvious mod but I want to be able to revert to stock easily. |

Yeah, get the CP. I blew mine out on stock boost. I am gonnna go ahead and do the FMIC (hpf ordering this week) and the DP (ordered a vrsf). Pretty stoked. I know what you mean about going back to stock cause I do have an extended 3rd party warranty but I think as long as I could go back on the airbox and remove the COBB they probably wont be able to tell. I'm not even sure how the claims process works. Like if they actually have one of their specialists come out and inspect or is they will take a SA's word for it from a dealership.

After some quick research I'll probably pick up this charger + tender for 39 at amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender...2278336&sr=1-3 I found some discussion around how you might end up shortening the life of a some types of battery (AGM, GEL) if you use just a tender with it, but the one I linked to above should be both a charter and a tender and can support charging any type that would end up in our cars. |

I did the same thing that you did when I first flashed my car. It was about 100 in the car and the windows were fogging lol For next time you have to uninstall/install the AP...roll down window, make sure lights, radio, AC etc are off, close the door, lean inside window, turn key to on, and flash from outside... Congrats on the v3 & welcome to the addiction called modding |

Yeah the button on top turns it completely off and wont drain the battery. I have left it on once now for a whole weekend and my battery was completely flat. Took several hours to charge back up with my 10A charger.
FYI even with the 10A charger attached during my flash, by the end my battery was still low. I wouldnt personally try to flash without a charger hooked up. These cars have so many computers in them and they all draw a lot of current. |

Woot. thanks for the replies guys.
Yep. Next flash I'll be OUTSIDE of the car while it happens . I also picked up a battery tender plus from amazon to be on the safe side. The car has a ridiculous amount of power now. Running stage 1 aggressive on 93 octane and bone stock otherwise. Everything seems to be running smooth. I probably need to do some WOT runs and log to make sure my fuel trims and timing is OK. Just from looking at the gauges I've seen my short term fuel trims spike briefly to like 29% when I'm driving aggressive (not WOT) and I'm not sure if thats just from me getting on/off the throttle and spiking or a sign that the tune might be too aggressive for my car/fuel. Its normally around 0-15% but I've seen it spike as above. Anyways, tons of data to obsess over . |
