Is jacking up required for front bumper removal?

I need to replace the bottom left grille on the stock front bumper with aero lip. To remove the bumper and reapply it again, is a jack necessary? I'm seeing some people post pictures of doing it without jacking up and some are jacking up (but mainly to put on mtech bumpers).

Thank you in advance.

It definitely helps to jack it up because you'll want to remove the wheels to get to some of the mounting bolts.

You can do it either way, but if you lift it up it makes the job easier

It's possible to do it without jacking the car up but you need to turn the wheels side to side in order to get to the 2 screws holding the bumper to the fender.

There are also 2 screws along the fender liners that need to be removed (at least on my E90).

Jacking it up makes it alot easier.

I jack up the front and place it on jack stands. Then I remove the wheels. Makes the job a lot faster and less painful.

Well i tried doing this but got stuck on the part where i need to remove the wheel arch lining to get at two screws that are above the wheel under the lining. I took out all the lining screws except for the inner most one thats a large screw. Im afraid of ripping the linning since it seems to be attached fairly well, plus its layered into some other crap.

you really only need to undo a few of the fender liner screws....then you can just pull back on it to get to the two screws that attach to the bumper up top. don't be afraid to pull back on the fender liner....it's more durable than you think. and you only need to pull it back enough to get to the two screws which are near the edge...again i did this with the car on the ground just by turning the wheel.
