This seems to all be for orig. owners. Are these options available for 2nd owners? Also, I am new and I was not told the truth on these costs. I live in Dallas; is there anyone here that can direct me on the best dealyer for warranty? Thanks for your help!!

I just got the extended maintenance 6 yr/100k on my new 335is for 2k even.
The list of things that it covers is pretty extensive so I figured I'd recoup the cost after having maintenance II, one brake job front and rear including brake fluid etc. and two oil changes since BMW will always let you do at a minimum, 1 per year or 1 every 15k miles. Chances of engine belts needing replacing are decent too. After one engine belt failure on my last car that resulted in 2500 worth of cooling system damage, I'm very keen on knowing when cracks appear on the serpentine and AC belt. |

I only cared about the CPO which was the extended warranty to 100k miles.
This did not include the maintenance. I paid 2600 bucks and it doesn't matter what dealer you purchase this from.

It does matter as far as price is concerned, because the third dealership I called offered a discount. The first two printed out from my key and offered me MSRP and wouldn't budge off that price.

I only drive 12,000 miles a year so I don't think it's worth it for me. Also, BMW recently changed their rules on the oil changes to 1 year AND LESS THAN 6,000 miles. If you go over 6,000 miles, you have to wait or pay for it yourself.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I'm considering the extended warranty and looking for some success/value stories. For instance, "my flux capacitor blew out at 59K miles, glad I had that Gold extended warranty cause that would have been a $3800 repair bill."
I was quoted $3140 for the Gold, and $2180 for Powertrain Plus, both @ 7yr/70K. I had the turbo waste gates replaced around 20K, which would have been a $2400 repair. |
