PE Quad Setup (Idea in the Works)
Yes, I did a search, yes it has been asked, but no definite answers were found.
I've been toying with the idea for a while now. I'm bored and know a guy who can give me a deal on doing a quad conversion of my 328's PE. I'll be taking her in this afternoon to get him to take a look at the car to see if it's possible. No idea what he is going to quote me. I think he's going to cut the tips off and attempt to make a Y shaped pipe that will lead to the other side of the bumper. I'll have him measure and cut the bumper for the tips. I don't really want to have to buy a new bumper While I'm at it, I'll most likely buy some tips and have him weld entirely new tips on since I probably won't find PE tips easily. Is this possible? Positive comments please. Thanks! |

I went out to the shop and the guy said that it might be difficult because there isn't much room for the piping and he said it wouldn't be flush with the bumper and the pipes would hang like 3 inches lower than they are now.
Lol and I have no idea if he knows what he's talking about or not because people on here are saying that it can be done. And I have no experience with this. Ah. |

Well from what I remember (this was awhile back), a member had a m3 rep rear and did the quads for the m3 look. It worked but it was just a really tight fit and from what I remember really tight bends. It is possible but you just need to have a good shop lol? Sorry I tried finding the thread but no luck. This was on an e92 btw I have no idea if it is diff for the e90 and I am not sure which one you have

Oh wow that's fantastic. I don't want to look like an M3 though, lol. It feels wrong.
Well, I'd have to figure out a way to get the piping all the way over to the other side and cut the bumper. I have an e90 and judging from the placement of the PE muffler, it's going to be pretty hard to get over to the opposite side. I'll research some more and fill you all in when I come across a solution. Thanks for the help! Keep the suggestions coming! |

I know its not your goal to look like an M3, but I just figured I could chime in since this guy was able to do it; but with a different canister.
The PE ends where the tips of this setup begins; so its gonna be tight. My only question is : Do you have room to move the canister downward on the line? I cant remember. If not, I hope your guy is a magician or else its gonna be hard work to do.

Looks like I'm not the only one that wants to convert to a quad and not be an M3.
Ok since I MIGHT be getting a new bumper with a quad diffuser, the same place where those same pictures were taken is the shop that I'll be working with. I want to try to convert my Eisenmann race muffler (shaped just like an OEM and oem BMW PE muffer) from dual to quad. I had an idea of cutting a hole into the muffler and running a pipe opposite like a 335 exhaust. Since I don't want to have 2 different exhaust sounds. If not I would think of cutting a hole from the exhaust mid pipes and running a thinner pipe. Very minimal sound/gain from that but it MIGHT be functional. Keep us updated Desiroc, see what ideas you got going. |

I saw the set up you are talking about yo-hi. It has been done. Space is definitely limited. Leo had to cut my tips at the back several inches to make it fit right.

I wonder if that big useless compartment in the trunk can be removed and replaced by something flat.
That would save a lot of room I think right? More space to work pipes at least? |

What? Lol.
Are you saying that it can be replaced with a 335 trunk bin (assuming that the 335 trunk bin is a lot smaller than that of a 328 because I have no idea). Or are you saying that I didn't use the correct terminology by calling it a "big ass compartment"? |

haha settle..im saying you can replace the bin and heat shields with the shallow one from the 335. Someone on here has done it. It requires the bin, heat shields, some bolts im sure, and relocating some canister. Can be done adds a few hundred to the job. Search user arctic330i think he did it.
