Does anyone have the actual TSB number for this? P and W bmw in pittsburgh is so terrible, they won't do anything until I specifically tell them the tsb number. why must i do their job for them?

I've been noticing this more and more on my car lately, but for me it sure sounds like it's coming from the front of the car, forward of the A pillar. It is spontaneously intermittent, sometimes will creak on glass smooth roads and won't over bumps, but is 99% reproduce-able when slowly pulling away from a stop. What's weird is that they seem almost nonexistent when the car is cold, but once temp reaches 180* or so, it creaks 99.9% of the time, up until about 30mph and certainly sounds like the "metal expansion" mentioned above.

Need to schedule an appointment microfilter tomorrow, I guess I'll wipe the hinges with some wd40 tomorrow morning and if that doesn't solve anything I'll have the dealer look at it

Had an interesting thought while oiling my door hinges today about my seemingly temperature related creaks coming from the front

Could it be that as engine temp rises the metal in the hood hinges is expanding and causing the creaking noises?

Well I sprayed the 3 front latches and the hinges at the bottom of the windshield and took it out for a test drive...not completely gone but noticeably better, probably 50% gone. After I got home I sprayed more and will let it sit and hopefully soak in overnight.

For the creaking door seals, I can totally recommend Einzett Gummipflege. It works better and last longer than WD40. You can get it on eBay for around $10. Treat your door seals with it, not just the outside facing part, but also both sides facing the metal. In my experience, this solved the problem 99%, and makes the rubber nice and black, looks like new. You have reapply it every 1-2 months to keep it working.

i had creaking issues in my car. I gummi fledged the door seals, no change. I then gummi plfedged the felt strip on the top of the door and it went away.

I don't see a felt strip on the top of my doors. There's felt around the door opening of the actual car but those don't even touch the doors when closed. This is quite a nuisance for a 50K car.

EDIT: I later went out and looked again and found the strip you were talking about. I fledged it and not a peep. Now I usually have more noise first thing in the morning so I'll wait and see what happens then. Crossing fingers.

EDIT: Woke up this morning and took the car for a spin. Not a sound. The felt trick really works. Thanks so much Dave.

Happen on my car starting from couple weeks ago, may be the weather in Vancouver heat up a little bit. I tried to lub the door and window seal but doesn't solve the problem.

Now I have to press the window down a bit which helps, I think this shouldn't happen on a car cost $50K +

I booked dealer to fix it coming Thursday, hope they can solve the problem.

just booked an appointment with my local bmw dealer. The problem is very well known to them. Changing the rubber seals is not a long term solution - the creaking sounds will come back eventually.

BMW has developed their own solution. its some sort of lube they apply on the rubber and it does work. The stuff is expensive tho, good thing i still have warrenty...
You can only buy this from your BMW dealer, it is OEM.

At this point I'm pretty sure my creaking is not door seals, which I've lubed the shit out of twice now, nor the hood hinges which I've also lubed. It's non existent when engine temp is below 200 and 100% reproduceable when it's above 200...scheduled to go in next week. I wonder if last time it went in they didn't tighten something all the way since I don't recall it being a problem before I got it back a little less than a month ago

so far I had the car about 3 months and a week into driving I heard creaking from the rear shelf. Fixed it my self by removing the rear grill by the window and taping the sh*t out of it. Then I had creaks coming from back seats and it was the junktion where seats pivot when you fold them down. Used some WD40 and that was gone. Now I noticed a small rattle coming from the indoor lights and small grill just behind the sun roof at the celing. Will fix it with tape soon. I do have small rattles from doors but its not that loud and anoying as others. Its unfortunate that expensive car like this have so many rattle problems but I am happy to live with it. Crank the radio up and floor the pedal and it all goes away.

you must have some hints on where the sound is comming from? Any way to pinpoint a specific area?

The door issue has a very distinctive sount to it, like your car was made out of wood and its flexing as you go over uneven ground.

Don't think it's been mentioned, but has anyone here noticed their front passenger headrest/seat rattling? I swear it does unless someone's sitting in it, usually when I reach over and hold it still with my hand it stops.

That's what it sounds like, but very intrusive. It turns out aftermarket front and rear stabilizers where put on my car at some point, either sold to me with them (bought only 3 months ago) or put on after my first service with the original dealer, because I distinctly remember hearing the sounds for the first time after I picked my car up from service for the first time. Since I have gone to a more local dealer, and they attribute the sounds to these bars, which are making contact with the left tie rod.

I will post more details in a dedicated thread when this all gets sorted out, including how all involved parties involved handled it, but let's just say its not looking good right now for a certain dealer who's SA's cannot return a phone call to save their lives.

I have same issue with my 2006 325xi, creaks, small wierd noises, the rear middle headrest is down and it makes a clapping noise when I hit bumps or rough roads.

Nature of the Beast I think, I will try that Gummi stuff, where can I locate some?

It drives me bat-shit.

The noise may be coming from the bottom of the instrument cluster. Slip a credit card (or 2) side-by-side under the cluster itself and see if the rattling goes away. If it does, you need to remove the cluster and felt the bottom of the cluster and its contact points along the lower cluster frame.

My 2010 E90 M 335i does the same damn thing and it can be annoying at times but it isn't that bad most of the time. I'm pretty sure it's the rear seats rubbing on painted metal. My seats don't fold down either.

I mean I know what you are talking about. I took a piece of black craft felt, rolled it up like and put it between the headrest and the seat, then pushed the headrest all the way down.. I haven't decided what kind of permanent solution to employ.

I took a piece of electrical tape and cut it to half width with an xacto knife, then ran it along the bottom in such a way that it can't be easily seen, temporary solution until I have a chance to pull it out and felt the bottom, but yes that's real.
