Now the tyre pattern is quite cool, I like that. But that tartan.......well each to their own!

Going by your prerequisites , I'd find it hard to look past a mk5 Golf GTi. Brilliant all round car - re-map it and you have a serious weapon on your hands, sir.

0-100mph is 14.1 sec and the Focus RS is 14.2 sec. Most other hot hatch backs over 16secs and the Golf over 17. The MK2 comes standard with Bose stereo, Bluetooth and sat nav. However there is a small batch of factory mis-builds that were built without what was supposed to be standard. A few reviews complained about the ride but it's no noticeably worse than any other hot hatch. I do like the fact nobody knows what they are. It's just a little different. They also respond well to a remap. |

I've just purchased an ED30 for my wife, it's our 5th MKV, and 2nd ED30 - all dsg. Fantastic all rounders and a remap away from 295bhp. Once rolling,it as quick as my C2S, or not far off it! Only weak point is the brakes

I saw a new black 5dr Pirelli edition in a dealers about 3 years ago. It was the nicest golf I have ever seen. The suspension looked lower than standard and the I thought the seats looked great in the flesh.

I'm thinking along the same lines at the moment and for me it is between an E46 M3, 130i and the Golf GTi.
I've not driven any of them but if I was to decide solely on practical grounds then I reckon it'd be the Golf. |
