DEF cap for replica bumper

Anyone know how hard it would be to drill a hole and mount the DEF cover? I was wondering if it just snaps in like a tow cover or if there is a bracket that is glued/molded onto the bumper. I searched but didn't find anything.

Pretty sure you might be biting off more than you can chew there - the OEM has a plastic bracket molded in that snaps the cover into place, and the tolerances are pretty tight.

You're better off going OEM if you want the M-Sport bumper, honestly. At least for the D.

That's what I was afraid of. Guess I will hold off on the rep bumper then. Thanks!

I am glad this question was asked. Although I have no immediate plans for the upgraded bumper, I keep forgetting about that one nasty little detail and would have forgotten it at order time I'm sure.

Fyi In Europe you can order the covers prepainted. In case you wanted to get creative and try and just drill a hole was some sort of bezel behind it

I saw a thread about someone turning a 335i msport bumper into a d msport bumper after purchasing it used for cheap. Their body shop made it work. I'll have to search for it if you want me to find it.

Edit: here you go...

If you do go with the OEM M-Sport rear, be prepared for a long wait...mine had to be ordered from Germany and took about a month for getbmwparts.com to get in...and that is unpainted.

Don't forget to keep your DEF cover and the lanyard too, the bumper doesn't come with the cover. Nor does the cover itself come with the lanyard if you get a new one of those either.

I did see this thread but I didn't see any pictures of the final results (maybe being filtered at work). I think I'm just going to save money and get the OEM bumper.

10-4. I assumed you were talking about an m3 rep bumper because you wanted to change up the look. I just posted in the other thread asking DP to post pics. Frankly, I was curious anyway as I'd love to eventually to a m3 conversion (won't happen, but I'd still like to )
