Mixed Messages Regarding Oil Change

Question:

I've got about 9300mi on my E90

Today, I checked my service interval indicator, and strangely it was showing 9000mi (or 7/2007) as the time for the oil change. I have received NO visual / auditory cues that the car was near due for service, and even more so is the fact that I am over 9000mi, and still the car does nothing! Just as recently as a month ago, the car was showing oil due at 13,000mi...

So what gives? Anyone see something similar to this? All I can say is that I am happy that I changed my oil myself about 3mo/ 2000mi ago. At least I don't have to worry about the oil itself being bad.

The number you are seeing on the service indicator are the miles until service. You have 9,000 miles to go before service is due based on the calculation of the computer. You will continue to see that number changes as the computer recalcs it. I thought the same thing as you when I first got the car so I talked to my SA about it and that's the answer I got.
