May have missed a post but what code was thrown up? My E90 threw up Code 2a67 vanos solenoid so replaced both, take 10 minutes, although there was no running issues after replacing these the car runs super smooth. Two months later, Eml light on again, Code 2a67 and 2a6b.. Valvetronic motor..Eccentric valve sensor. Although the car goes in limp mode from time to time the car is running perfect, no starting probs, runs smooth. To replace these parts it's going to cost £1000 ($1500) Taking it to an independent BMW specialist tomorrow for another diagnosis. If this comes back the same then will have to get it done,or put up with it going in limp mode.

Unacceptable. They only told you this while your car was under warranty because they didn't want to fix it. Tell BMWNA that you've had this problem ever since you got the car and the dealership told you the same thing but any other mechanic told you otherwise. If there's anything I've learned with companies that don't want to take responsibilities..ARGUE ARGUE ARGUE UNTIL YOU GET WHAT YOU WANT. And in this case you deserve a fix.

Had My Valve Tronic motor fitted today. Was worried it may be the sensor as well as they come in at £250,more than the motor itself. Local independent BMW specialist £400. parts,labour,re-coding. Not bad as I was expecting it to be £1000. (Main dealer quote)
