As an owner of a 57 320i SE my advice would be to get an M-Sport. I really miss the extras that an M-sport gives you. IMHO you are doing the right thing getting a diesel. I've had a 316d courtesy car for the last 3 weeks and I love it. Much nicer to drive round town (than my 320i) as it has got loads of torque. Don't even ask why may car has been in the stealers for the last 3 weeks!!!!

I am happy with the SE as my budget wont stretch to an M sport . Its not from a BMW dealer but a nice example with full BMWSH and low miles.
Any weak points on them.

Had a 55 reg 320i SE now have 59 320d M-sport which rides better with less crashes over pot holes etc, although it supposed to have harder suspension

Nobody was more surprised than me. 116bhp versus 150bhp and it still had a loads of torque. Might be just the way I drive as I am light footed on the throttle. The steering was much lighter as well which made it easier around town. The only complaint was that the uphostery looked a bit baggy and badly sewn.
