18inch Radial spoke 196 Wheels can ONLY take RFTs!?

Ok so its coming to summer time and i'm just switching back to my summer wheels (and need to order new tires) and my dealer told me that i HAVE to get RFT's to fit onto my 18inch Radial spoke 196 wheels?! they said that they won't put anything else on there because the tire will come right of if i go around a bend hard?! I called up BMW NA and they said the same thing, and a friend of mine called up his dealer and they all said the same thing. Also, they said that the suspension is made for a RFT and that i would get all sorts of warnings if i didnt put a RFT?! Is it normal that i can ONLY put a RFT on my 18inch Radial spoke 196?! any help would be good!

What mental institutions did those people (dealer, etc.) come from? They sound like they're out of their minds!

You can use a non-RFT on those Style 196 wheels. Below is the recommended sizes:

225-40-18 FRONT
255-35-18 REAR

Tire choices would range from General Exclaim UHP if you're on a budget to Michelin PS2 if you have $$$ to spend

Your dealer just tried to rip you off, I'm glad you didn't listen to them.
