Rob....

Will the revised maps address the random wastegate cycling? At least that is what I have been told it is...

I can be crusing at a given RPM and throttle setting and suddenly the exhaust volume increases a few decibels and it pops like crazy on decel. This lasts for a good 30 seconds or so then returns to normal.

Please let us know as it gets fairly annoying.

There may be a gas station near you in Nevada that has 100 octane, and you can run a mix to get to aggressive without any issues.

Here's a link even though it says socal

Does the popping start when holding the throttle steady or after lifting off the throttle?

Cheers,
Rob

I just heard that COBB is working on some street legal downpipes (race cats) that would be compatible with their stage 2 tune

mine would change tone when holding the throttle steady and the popping/burbling would be during decel (lifting off).

I spoke to Calvin at their Plano shop today, while I scheduled my ETS IC installation for next week. I told him if there is a list for the DP and exhaust to put me on it

Thanks for the response Rob. The only code it threw on the AP was a 0FF(if i remember correctly) which is the boost leak code.

Warranty ending shortly and I'm keeping the car. Ordered today from Cobb -- they were very helpful on the phone. I couldn't justify the overnight charges, after waiting years to get a tune ;-) I'll post experiences soon.

How about a few new threads for Cobb and let this fade -- rather long. One for 50 daily posts asking about updates, others for questions/experiences, etc. Just sayin'

just bought a used '07 335xi sedan, has a cpo warranty and free maintenance until july 2013. planning to get the cobb AP but want to wait until i can get new spark plugs free from bmw (service said to come back in 800 miles and they can do them under my free maintenance, im at 40k miles). don't want to flash the tune on old plugs, seems like that will be trouble for sure. so i'll be enjoying the car and getting used to stock power, and hopefully cobb releases the new maps soon and when im ready to jump on the cobb bandwagon, the new tunes will be out and tested by many with good feedback. the timing is setting up real nice for me ...although i am a little confused with the whole stock throttle and linear throttle thing on all the different maps. but im in NJ so i'll definitely be going with the aggressive tune on 93 octane, but need more detailed information on the difference in the throttle..

also, this is a great forum, a lot of good info. thanks to everyone for informing me and teaching me new things about cars in general on a daily basis, SO informative

Pretty sure that anything that modifies the stock catalytic converters is illegal according to federal emissions law. Although I could be wrong. But that's what I heard...

True.
Tampering with emissions equipment is not street legal.

Ok "street legal" may have been a poor choice of words. What I was told is that it would be able to pass a smog test using the race cats.

It depends on if they're using a sniffer or simply checking thru the OBDII port. If they are checking thru the OBDIi port, you need to make sure you are passing all the OBDII readiness monitors.

Also, I know some race cats will trip CEL lights. I have CPE's catted dps and trigger CELs. I plan on installing BMS' catless dps fix to hopefully pass my emissions next year.

Just noticed that new throttle maps have been posted on Cobb site...there's now stock, linear, V1 and V2 listed for 3.01 maps. I know how the stock and linear throttle maps "feel", but what are the charateristics of V1 and V2? I haven't seen anything posted on this yet...

Unfortunately, I'm not using my AP now. Started having HPFP issues 3 weeks ago and it's getting replaced today. I had just ordered my AP when the issues started and was only able to play with it for 3-4 days before uninstalling it. Excited to get the car back tomorrow and try the new throttle maps...
