Reviving this one...

Is it possible to somehow get the latest CIC upgrade with camera alerts?

I'm also not coming up with anything re: discs from BMW for twentysomething quid. Any links?

Because most dealers are clueless you need this part number for the discs only (no code) and then buy a code on-line: B65.90.2.218.943 (update DVD) and costs £22.20

Regarding camera alerts I have discovered something interesting. Well to me anyway.

I have the TomTom app on my iPhone. I've had it since I had my Saab but never use it now due to having navigation on the E91. If I just fire up the app, put it in the adapter in the arm rest and select External Devices/Richard's iPhone I get very accurate audible camera and speed warnings without having to enter a route ie app running but not navigating. It's a bit of a compromise with no radio/CD/USB audio but quite often I do have music on my phone and stream via Bluetooth. I'm sure I'd still get the warnings if I was steaming audio. This would have been very handy over the weekend on a run to and from Edinburgh. More than one close shave

And btw I've also tried the Road Angel app (free trial) and that just doesn't work at all. I only get my current speed and not a squeak about anything else.

Hi guys

I bit of newbie when it comes to this. I have just retrofitted a 2010 CIC unit in my 2008 e93. I will assume if I get the 2012 update disc from BMW, when I go to purchase the FSC code I will need to give the VIN stored on the CIC unit???

That is correct. You can find it from seller or that CIC. or you can get it from the unit itself.
Why would you go to stealer if you can get all this done for £72-74 including everything?

£20 for the disks is cheap, I thought satnav disks cost over £100?

I think I might do this update - with my Google maps 'sent to car' about the finish, having proper post code searching would be great!

The discs for non HDD sat nav do cost this from BMW, however the HDD discs are far cheaper because they make their money providing the code instead.

If you mean downloading the £22.50 DVD, try visiting gpsunderground. Last time i checked there were a few torrents. If you copy it onto a USB it should be faster updating.

Another thumbs up from me for *******@inbox.it.

100 euros for the DVDs and FSC code, and the update took about 3 hours.

It was an ftp site, so you have to download the whole thing directly which might take a good while depending on your line speed. I'll dig out the details as the 2013 discs are up now.

If I read this right, there is a chance that I could update to the new maps but still not get full postcode searching if I don't have the right operating software. Is that correct?

Also, this chap in Italy - how do you pay him for the code?

The operating software is on the discs

Pay by Paypal probably. He seems to have lots of satisfied customers.

Just send ******* an email and tell him what you want. Once you give him your VIN and pay him (by paypal) you will get an FSC code. I can vouch for him. If you have a read of gpsunderground he has loads of satisfied customers.
