What’s happened to fuel prices??

Not wanting to set off a ‘too intellectual’ or ‘too political’ thread but what’s happened to fuel prices??

I may be a little slow on the uptake but it’s only just dawned on me that there is only 1p difference between diesel & petrol (standard stuff). When did they creep so close together ??

Must admit I had noticed it not costing much difference to fill up the 330d & 350Z but hadn’t taken the thought process any further .

Is this due to tax, oil or something else i.e. is it likely to separate again?? Suddenly a diesel makes more sense when there isn’t the 10p fuel difference (mile to mile comparison).

I noticed this as well the other day - has petrol gone up or diesel down?

I think Petrol has gone up relative to the cost of Diesel... filled a tank yesterday of V-Power petrol at 109.9 a litre. Normal 95 Unleaded was 101.9. Diesel was 103.9

Diesel and petrol are the same price up here which is a great improvement on the 14p per litre difference six months ago. (Both 99.9p)

At that time, the oil companies were making a killing on diesel using shortage of production as an excuse. For years before there had always been a gap between diesel and petrol and now I suspect the oil companies are making a killing on petrol users.

I don't mind since my diesel choice now makes the best sense ever!

I thought the Government took higher taxes on diesel so I'm sure it's only a matter of time until they take action and swing things back into the favour of petrol.

I heard somewhere, that due to the economic downturn, there is less demand for diesel (mainly in trucks) and so that has caused diesel prices to come down.

That sounds most sensible so far...
