It's not the same in performance. Maybe in slalom yea since the suspension is the same, but straight line or quarter mile it has got to be faster. Even with the same damn engine, DCT alone will make the car faster. And I thought we all knew a minimal amount of cars in here. If putting down a well liked BMW on a BMW forum is your way of justifying the jump you made to audi, take it somewhere else bro. No one here bashes on your car yet you've several times made snide remarks about a car you seem to know about less than you think.

Since when did engine mounts, oil coolers, radiator fans, water coolers, retuned ECU's transmissions, exhausts go from being functional to cosmetic upgrades? where's the jerking off smiley face here?

I'm just getting tired of a bunch of haters with pre LCI or other cars or whatever who have nothing to do but talk sh*t on a car that comes along that is in all honesty better in every possible way except maybe price and perceived value.

In a BMW board or not, I will bash CNET even for their own product reviews. Have you seen a laptop review done by CNET? Have you seen their review of the S4? It's no different, likes the car but doesn't give an auto enthusiast real data. He was more focused on the NVidia navi and B&O sound. It's a quick and dirty review for tech junkies. I'm just saying, for a car that has been in preview and pre-production testing with journalists why hasn't car & driver, motortrend, and others buy one off the dealer lot and put it to test. We all want to know.
I think I may have misinterpreted your statement "I'm wondering if they are holding out to prevent the general public know that it is no different than the 335 in performance and everything is simply cosmetic." because it sounded like you were certain that the performance is no better and if that is the reason why they won't release performance data.

I think the review didn't do much to talk about performance other than published figures that everyone already knows. In fact, pretty much every single word that came out of his mouth could be found on the BMWUSA website. Hardly a review...more like a video dialogue of the car's features and package costs. However, a lot of people who buy BMWs even, don't ever buy based on 0-60 times or 1/4 mile. Even a lot of M3 buyers. Everyone on this board probably thought that review was silly, but we're a very specific subset here.

Sigh...CNET Car Tech reviews, guess what? CAR TECH.

Most of their reviews are heavily weighted to the gadgets within the vehicles and how to package it up. You should watch some of his other reviews where he barely talks about the car's performance at all. That's not the purpose of CNET's Car Tech vidcast or website.

The details concerning the performance and drivability of the car is secondary. There are other sites and magazines that concentrate solely on that.

If that was the best exhaust he's ever listened to, he has no business reviewing cars.

He does get a little snarky about the L7, saying something like it is "fake surround" not real like a DTS system. Given that there is almost no software available for "real surround" systems (DVD-A is dead, SACD nearly so, and very few multi channel music DTS or Dolby Digital DVD's) I found that comment unnecessary. That said, he does say the system sounds pretty good-which it does.

Decent review, only thing I didn't like was the way he downplayed the horsepower number...

1) BMW is known to under-rate their cars
2) He failed to mention number 1
3) I get into plenty of trouble in my 235(rated)hp 6-speed ZHP (basically the same car, just e46), I would think another +/- 100hp would be amazing
