325i N53 Strange Sound

Hi all,

I am aware that these engines are 'clicky' or 'tappy' due to the DI injectors, and I just wanted to check that the sound below is what people are referring to when they mention this?

Thanks.

Allay your fears. My N53 330i sounds exactly the same. Are you having problems?

+1 mine sounds exactly the same as that as well. if u get a higher pitched metal clang litterely sounds like metal on metal then thats the issue most people have addressed. however the sound in the video doesn't sound like anythings wrong.

No, no problems whatsoever but getting an error code on BMWhat (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1046723) which isn't too straight forward to diagnose.

More curious than anything. Thanks guys

Everything is fine. That is how engines with the direct fuel injection sound, so no worries.

Normal. It does seem to get quieter with age/miles...

Sorry to dig up an old thread but wondered if you had any more info on this, I couldn't find anything. Or was this metal on metal sound related to n52?

Reason for asking is I opened a post in the nasp section but I think there may be more n53 folks here.

Sorry to cross post! Perhaps it a mod could move it to UK or UK technical please?

My 325i m sport sounds exactly ,it's because when the engine is in idle it's using hardly any fuel,I only found this out after speaking to an expert on here,so it's nothing to worry about.

Both. And the slight drop in rpm when you open the oil filler is normal too. These engines run with a slight vacuum in the crankcase.

I have a 325i lic with the N53 engine. When I take the oil refiller cap off, then engines starts immidiately to run very very rough. Almost goes out.

Is this normal?
