Where is the best place to get my i drive updated and also 2011-12 maps disc?

It depends on what you hope to acheive from the update and what version i drive you have. The hdd version ties you to a dealer.

Mines got the DVD drive and I found this website http://www.bmwnavi.co.uk/ but I don't know if it would be any good.

You are fine with most of these firms. The discs they sell also often have speed cams and 7 digit post code searchable through the points of interest so better than a bmw disc. Expect to pay £25-30. If you have the time and know how, you can download for free though.

Stumbled across it a while back. Nothing to do with maps but more connectivity.

Only works if you have 2010 or later i-drive - so don't get too excited.
