Replacement air filter for E92

A friend recommended aFe Power MagnumFLOW OER PRO DRY S Air Filter: http://afepower.com/shop/details_new...0L&&brandID=59

Can anyone guide me if the OEM filter performs better in term of 0-60 and overall higher mpg? I am reaching almost 38K miles and am wondering that I should replace air filter and possibly spark plugs.

Any advice would be very helpful. I am not interested in changing the airbox or oiled filter, only looking for dry filter comparison.

Thank you.

Mann or Mahle Knecht imho are the way to go. There are some serious studies showing that the oiled performs worse than OEM.

You've reached 38k without ever changing the filter, or do you mean you've never changed it as it was probably changed through the maintenance program?

I thought that the results were oiled filters performing worse than dry ones, OEM paper/dry cotton? Or does the dry cotton experience the same clogging that the oiled filters do after a while?

OP: Paper filter should be changed about every 25k. Spark plugs should be changed about every 35k on an untuned 335i. I would recommend that you change both.

In other words, there's no benefit to avoiding OEM paper, for virtually any vehicle to include motorcycles. How this notion of oiled cotton being better and lasting 1,000,000 miles came about is anybody's guess, probably did before the days of bench flow testing. Man will always take another's man's money when he can. JP Morgan and BW prove that.
