What about suggestions for the rear rotors?

I have one that has a couple bluish hot spots so I will eventually replace it. I'm not into the cross-drilled/slotted hype for street (no tracking) so a plain rotor is fine with me. If and when my fronts need replacing, I'll go with the Z4's...

Plain rotors. I run Zimmermann Z-coat with Pagid RS-19 pads at summer. You'll want as much rotor as you can in order to not overheat too quickly. Goes against the general opinion I guess...

There are too many convincing arguments that I've come across over the decades that cross-drilled/slotted rotors aren't good for the street, and even the occasional weekend track. If you want one good read, here's one to digest that I can remember of recently, but there are many, many more that have corroborated this with their own "real word" testing that I stopped keeping track of them because I was convinced not to use these types of rotors on my cars from a performance perspective (but maybe if they were the only option from a reputable manufacturer as part of a "big brake" upgrade kit, and only if any holes were cast, not drilled).

The only "real" pushers for these are: performance suppliers and vendors, the "looks cool" crowd, and the "me too" crowd. The big names in brakes (Wilwood, Baer, etc) will of course provide you with all the "reasons" why these are such "performance" enhancing features, and these reasons are regurgitated ad nauseam by many pundits. You may even have pundits point to the motorcycle world with their many examples of drilled rotors in use.

And the low cost rotors will unlikely have any true durability and performance testing as their manufacturers only interested in targeting a certain demographic of enthusiasts that are into "looking cool."

Drilled/slotted certainly do look "cool" and I won't knock anyone putting them on their street cars if this is what they are after.

I'm running Centric high carbon with no complaints, cheap 'n' cheerful and the coating is holding up well. Black coating not grey like OEM though.

I went back and forth over getting the 35is rotors over the Zimmermann blanks. After shipping, the 35is rotors would be $400ish as compared to Zimmermann blanks I got off Amazon with prime shipping for $144.

I was trying to find the 35is rotors without the BMW branding, but was unsuccessful. Now I see someone has it...Zimmermann two piece rotors with aluminum hats for $289 before shipping. @ $70 less than the Zimmermann 35is with a BMW part number. Also, it only saves you 3lbs per wheel, not 4lbs. I am sure that makes some difference. Is it double the cost+++ difference? For me...no. Especially on a wear part. I think people mainly like this for the better heat disapation from having aluminum hats. I don't track, I will never come close to the better heat disapation making any difference.

Zimmermann blanks are very good quality and inexpensive. I went even less expensive before on my front rotors getting the autozone brand for $80 total because of a sale and regretted it. That was $80 wasted on crap that rusted like crazy, looks like shit and I don't think is truly flat as I can hear some drag noise.

I just put Zimmerman plain coated rotors on my backs. Couldn't be happier. The price is excellent. For street cars, stay away from slotted/drilled. They might look good but the performance and longevity is terrible.

Why new rotors? Unless close to min, hey....

Calipers are best painted with high temp thermally conductivity stuff - THIS might work, and is available in green - latest thing! Boron nitride in the right binder - does it get any better?

And what if: rotors painted 'cept swept area....
