It's f'n stupid that bmw stopped putting the ability to put the trans into park which used to be under the cupholder to save a few bucks. Jerks!
forget about bolt, this is may be for 8speed trans or e-shift trans
e90 has good old m-shift with bowden cable and everything is simple

Wow, who knew we had an explosive disconnect switch on the battery to kill all power to the car.

Plug came out with wire. Looks like I’m gonna need a new fuse box now. Ugh.

The cable isn’t supposed to be melted on the connector like that, correct? I just ordered a new fuse box.

Looks like that should be covered by the recall?

Diesels aren’t covered, I just asked the dealer. It says under recall in computer ‘Diesels have different electrical systems and therefore are not covered. Looks exactly the same to me!!!

Ya, the part numbers are identical. Sounds like some more dealer BS!
Maybe you could argue some goodwill on their end?

Luckily the fuse box is 170.00. Any confirmation that this cable is defective? It is welded to the connector

I cut wire. I should be able to connect battery, then check with a voltmeter if there is power to the cut wire. Anyone know how much power goes to fuse box? 12v?

Well new cable and fuse box did it, car works! Thanks everyone for helping me thru this nightmare. I still have to mount fuse box (nightmare), wire is stiff, and put everything back together. But thanks all for your help.

I have this same problem. Can you give the part number that was used to fix?
