Thanks Alpine..
Can anyone recommend a window tinter in the Franklin/Brentwood area. I have been told to check out Xtreme off of 96. Anyone have experience with these guys?
I'm wanting to make sure it is a top notch job. Pablo |

Pretty pleased with the final outcome. They did end up replacing the driver's front and rear films - tiny imperfections, no charge. Took about 2 hours for the full install, and 1.5 hours for the replacements on the return visit. I really like the 35% Pinnacle F1. Has a lifetime warranty for fading/peeling, but I'm sure they'll get scratched up before then. They told me it would be about $60 to replace each film (when I scratch them). Be careful when you're vacuuming, as the plastic wand may mar the film. They told me not to roll down the windows for a few days after installation, but I waited a week before lowering them. Make sure you use only ammonia-free cleaner (Windex makes ammonia-free, check the bottle), and avoid car washes (where they will use ammonia window cleaner (and scratch your car's finish)). They didn't do a great job with the dot matrix, so when I returned for the repeats they heated up the films that were already applied and it seemed to work. They should have 'broken down' the dot matrix more to begin with, using something like sandpaper or a spatula. You can read about it in a tinter forum (try Google). There seems to be a lot of employee turnover in the tint shops, so the guy who did mine (in Jan/Feb) may not be there anymore. In fact, it was a different guy who re-applied my drivers' side tints than when I went in initially. They gave the excuse that the original guy 'broke his arm', but he could really be in prison for all I know. By TN law/statute, the tint shop is supposed to place a sticker or other tag in the window to show the % tint, and possibly the brand. Solar Insulation uses the opportunity to put a small advertisement in your window. Pretty small - could be trimmed to remove the logo and still be legal . Ask to look at it before the install. It's about 1.5 inches square, but could be smaller if you trim the small sunburst off the logo. I'm off to Chattanooga this weekend, but I'll be around the end of the week and back early next week, if you want to look at the job they did. I work in midtown (Vanderbilt, parking garage next to the Childrens' Hospital, I can walk over to meet you), or you can come to my home in Brentwood (Brookfield subdivision, ~ 1 mile east of Governor's Club subdivision, near the intersection of Concord and Concord Pass). I guess it would be easier for you if I posted pics...I'll try to get some up later this week. Last edited by Neurorad; 07-09-2008 at 12:20 PM.. |

Interesting. I've had 3 cars tinted, but never had any logo or sticker or anything like that applied with the film.

OTHER TENNESSEE RULES AND REGULATIONS • Restricted Colors No colors of tint are explicitly banned. • Side Mirrors No restrictions. • Certificate Requirements Manufacturers of film do NOT need to certify the film they sell in the state. • Sticker Requirements The sticker to identify legal tinting is required between the film & glass on the driver’s side window. • Medical Exemption State allows medical exemptions for special tint. For more details about the specific terms of the exemption, consult your state law. Even if it's the law, doesn't mean that tint installers do it. I guess you've been lucky. |

Noob from Spring Hill/Franklin here. I just ordered my E90 yesterday and traded my Evo in. The new car should be here the third week of September, I can't wait.

Hello everyone, I just found this thread. I'm in the Brentwoood/Cools springs area as some of you already know.Pablo - I tinted my car at Xtreme off of 96. I know the owner, I tinted 2 cars with him and bought a couple of dirt bikes from him too! lol anyways, I recommend them. I paid $210 for 35%

That's cooky..
Noize,
I had my car in for the Sirius Sat receiver install and oil change on the day you were there. Blue Evo right, parked right out front? Also noticed that someone was test driving the Silver WRX I traded in. Too funny. Sweet car Noize. I actually asked one of the CAs who they recommend for tinting. I got my car going to Music City Tinting in Brentwood this Saturday. Confirmed with a buddy who had his 330i tinted there and highly recommended this guy. He always has the high end rides coming in. $185 for the high performance, 35%, life time warranty tint. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Pablo |

Pablo- Ask the tint shop about the 'required' sticker that the installers sometimes place between the driver's front tint and the glass. You don't want any surprises.
