Exclamation E90post members' efforts help recover stolen 335i

Guys,

New here, but outside my apartment, for the past three weeks there has been an AW 335i Coupe with its sunroof cracked open sitting on 96th and 2nd avenue in a no parking zone. It maybe has about 20+ tickets now.

Pictures are attached with the license plate - CALIFORNIA LICENSE PLATE: 6H0J642.

It looks like it has different BMW wheels and tinted windows.

Please help ID this so NYPD can impound the car or contact the owner so it doesn't incur any damage.

Thanks all,

Tom

Stolen? No true owner of an e92 could ever abandon his or her baby like that.

What the hell? so the cops just keep adding tickets and more tickets to a vehicle that obviously doesn't have an owner? Why don't they use common sense and impound it?

Oh but no, they will wait until somebody jacks the car because they know no one will come looking for it.

looks like its got style 230 wheels... i am sure someone's going to jack those soon when they realised the car has been left there for so long.

Three weeks? And no one has run the VIN to see the original owner/lessee?

The car is on a very populated street that is always well lit. Stealing would be a hard sell, and its parked on a steep decline.

If the NYPD had any interest in finding the owner or doing anything with the car, I would think they could just run the plate themselves.

So someone here runs the VIN or plate and finds the last owner of record. Then what?

Maybe its a bait car to see if anyone would try to steal it. Once they're in and drive off, cops disengage the engine, car shuts down and you get nabbed.

HIGHLY doubtful, unless you plan on flat bedding the car...The last time I checked, most modern cars are nearly impossible to hotwire...I would assume if it were a true sting they would use something like a honda accord or Camry, as those are generally the top 1-2 stolen cars in the US.

There is an M6 & a CL63 that just sit in the parking lot of my building gathering dust.

I think they belong to some basketball players that keep a loft there for when they are in town.

It seems like a crime to me though.
