I have 93k miles since unplugging the the connector. Engine has had to be rebuilt 3 times! (Joke)

No problems what so ever. Love the sound!

Thanks

Easiest mod i have ever done. Feels like you lose a little low end torque possibly? Just seat of your pants feeling though, no actual proof. Sounds better though!

Did this 1.5 years ago. I like the sound better than stock.

Been to various dealers 5 or 6 times for warranty issues. Either they haven't noticed, or don't care.

i've tried searching although i couldnt find the right answer so i figured i'd try here first...my buddy has a 2013 335i coupe and he did this "mod" no problem, but i have a 2013 335i sedan and my car doesnt have the same compartment in the trunk that his does. or at least its not in the same place as his. Is this connector located in a different spot on the new body style sedan? or does it no longer exist on the new body style?

Hello all,

I can't seem to find any pics or videos or even comments discussing how to get to the wire you need to disconnect on a convertible....ive done this on a 4 door 335i but can't seem to easily access this on my 2013 335is convertible.....any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did this the first day I picked up my 335i e92 (last week )

But a couple times after starting the car I got a brake light failure warning. After plugging the exhaust cable back in, it went away

Any idea what's going on? I'm going to try it again today but wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions

My only thought would be wrong cable disconnect? Might be best just to crawl under the car with a couple zip ties, crimp the vacuum line itself and apply two zip ties. It's a solution that's also easy to undo quickly.

But disconnect is is simple just make certain you've got the right cable.

Brake light circuit failure on the E92 is a known issue, could it have just been pure coincidence?

but I had a Saab before this so I am used to weird problems

Just picked up my used 09 335i m sport, and this was the first thing I tried cause it was free and super easy to do.

Yes like some others said, it was like 10% louder than stock at idle and low rpms, it was cool at first...

but the loss in low rpm torque was VERY noticeable for me and felt almost sluggish booting it off at the usual default stop lighted 2nd gear in sport-tronic mode.

The next day I plugged it back in, and the car gives me smiles again!! Even in 2nd gear from a stop!

Hey guys. I disconnected my wire and I'm about to get my car inspected and if I recall correctly, doesn't this mod throw a shadow code or something? I was wondering if this will cause a problem with my inspection? Thanks.

It does throw a shadow code, plug back in if you are concerned, but they won't say anything about it.

Well my new 335is is here and I'll be doing it again. Never had any trouble before, enjoyed the noise. We do need an E93 and newer sedan walk through though from the sound of it.

Important to remember that this is a tiny little "tweak" really, it's only about noise, there will be no increase, decrease, etc. It might sound faster...

This is awesome.. has anyone taken it a step further and wired it up to a single/double pole switch up front to turn it on and off quickly and conveniently without having to go into the trunk?
