Damn. At least it was quick. Doubt he knew what hit him.
I got knocked off my bike just once. I'm here to tell you, you won't see it coming. My accident was like God reached down and smacked me off my bike. I had no idea what had happened. Just a murderous, shocking hit and then light/dark/light/dark as I tumbled. Then I remember listening to myself gasping for air and thanking God I could still move my legs and arms (first thing I checked). The other lesson learned from my crash; only leather (or Kevlar) will save your skin. My blue jeans shredded like cheap paper. The doc spent 30 minutes pulling gravel from my thigh and butt cheek. Any part of me covered in leather escaped without a scratch. And my helmet saved my life. It had a huge gash down the side of it. Still, the rotator cuff injury kept me out of work for 5 weeks. Surprisingly, the bike itself sustained little damage.
