What happens when BMW Assist Expires?

Hey guys. My BMW Assist will expire in about 5 months. I was wondering when it does, if I press the SOS button. Will it work? Will they respond? What happens?

Thanks!

You can add years to the service if you want to. They will always be willing to take your money.

What do you use the concierge service for? LOL

I'm not going to book airline tickets while sitting in my car, I don't need them to make dinner plans for me...I find it useless.

Finding a nice winery, bed and breakfast, or restaurant in the area whist exploring around with the fiancé across the country on weekend warrior excursions, complete with ratings of the best ones, and directions to places that just won't show up on the occasionally wonky navigation system.
If you're not into that sort of thing, then obviously it wouldn't make sense to you.

yelp and google do that for free and you can actually see everything on the screen (reviews, ratings, prices, picture of food, street views, etc)

service is only useful if your cellphone doesnt work in emergency. you get like 5 free calls with the service

Great - I have an iPhone. If you like the inconvenience of pulling over, noodling around on your smartphone, when you can ask a simple question, or even worse, noodle around on your smartphone WHILE DRIVING, then that is your choice. I do appreciate the help and the advice guys (if it was even intended that way).
I don't see the big deal here. I like it, you guys obviously don't. We are all entitled to our opinions.
We all obviously wasted a ton of money on our BMWs when so many other cars can be had with many better features for far less money, and to make matters worse many of us piss our money away modding our overpriced BMWs which adds no resale value, and in some cases, even devalues our cars (myself included).
I would say this is hardly the forum for any of us to tell the other on how we shouldn't be "wasting" our money on anything at all. Just my .02 cents.

Chill out. We were teasing you.

Also, the way you described the use of it was pretty good. Fiance, wineries, bed and breakfasts.

BMW should have you sell it for them

I know bro, I'm not upset. I was just saying for the record we totally waste too much money on these BMWs- but I know we wouldn't have it any other way LOL

However, you guys did get me thinking... I underutilize SO MUCH of the technology I have in my possession every day (and I'm a freakin TECH by trade!) and maybe it is time I started exploring my options better.

after it expires, will it still call emergency for an accident? i'd imagine it would be rather upsetting if bmw purposely chose to not implement technology that's already in the car in the event of a deadly accident, in hopes that people renew their assistance service

This is a great question, and a disturbing possibility. I doubt it though. I am going to call them today matter of fact to check, and to possibly cancel my concierge service...just possibly...

Please update with their answer. I am guessing you would be SOL if the subscription expired.

When I enter my car and plug-in charge in phone, phone bluetooth automatically turns ON and if it connects to car's bluetooth, the phone pops up the menu if I want to launch Pandora, navigation, Tune-in radio, or just music player When I leave the car and unplug the phone, blueooth turns OFF and Android automatically shuts down whichever application I was using I never even touch a single button on my head unit. Steering wheels control commands are routed through bluetooth to phone.
I hear you can do lots of cool things with NFC tags as well.

technology my friend !

Yup! You are so correct brother. I'm a bad tech Wonder what kind of interesting tech the F30s will bring to the table? Not that I'm getting one..at least, I don't think. Man, August is going to be an interesting time for me!

iPhone's Siri does a better job than BMW's concierge services.
