car is still at the dealer. I think they are feeding me BS. the manager said that the head technician/supervisor/foreman that checked my car last saturday, have to duplicate the problem with another technician. not really sure what that means. he said that they have to drive the car. I told him they don't have to drive the car, it happens at low speed or even at a standstill. he must think I am dumb. next stupid excuse please. haha... I was pissed today, tomorrow I will be even more pissed as the manager didn't even call me back like he said he would. total disregard as I told him I need to have a car tomorrow because I have to go to work. oh well, good thing I have another vehicle to use.

stay tuned

Ah what crap indeed. So drive the car already, its easy to duplicate, happens everytime, no need for the car to be cold, hot, etc. I need to get this done soon. My warranty only has about 6000 miles left

they feeding me a line of BS again today. They said then cannot duplicate the problem and will try and duplicate it again and possibly check the power steering unit. WHAT??????????

Also, the guy told me that the wheel balancing is not under warranty and I will be charged for it. Does it really take 3 times to tell me that because my answer did not change, "I will pay for it". balance the damn thing already.

that's what I told them. BUT!!!!!!

This bulletin just came out this month.

SUBJECT:

Droning from the engine compartment when using air conditioner

MODEL:
E82, E88 (1 series)
E90, E91, E92, E93 (3 series)

SITUATION:

When the air conditioning system is in operation, a droning noise from the engine compartment may be heard. In addition, vibrations may be felt through the steering wheel at the engine speeds of between 900 and 1,100 rpm.

The noise is no longer present when the air conditioner system is switched off.

Additionally, there may be a complaint of diminished cooling output. (which is also something that my car did just recently)

CAUSE:

Insufficient refrigerant in the cooling circuit

CORRECTION:

Do not replace parts.

DEFECT CODE: 64 52 00 25 00

from what the dealer said, this is still in the development stage and waiting for a permanent solution. discharging the AC unit and charging it will fix it temporarily. However, there is a root cause for this issue and they will address it when they identify the actual problem and they will call me to perform the repair on my car.

BTW, this is covered under the terms of the BMW new vehicle limited warranty.

were you able to validate that it is related? somehow I don't think it is. I won't know for sure until they recharge my AC unit.

Well, I am going to try the AC thing today again, but yesterday I noticed a significant reduction in vibration when turning at slow speeds/parking. In many instances there was no vibration at all, but once in a while it was still there but significantly reduced.

Thank you folks for doing a little testing. I am really hoping that it goes away after they re-charge my AC.

Sadly, this will not work out for me. I can try and get the AC recharged before my warranty expires, but as you said, its not a permanent fix. By the time a real fix is found my warranty will have expired. I only have about 2 months left.

I would think that if you report the problem before your warranty is expired and the problem comes back after your warranty is expired, they should still resolve the issue as they really didn't replace a faulty part. The AC unit should hold the charge for a few years. Just a thought.

Sad to say. The AC has been discharged and re-charged but the problem with the vibration at low speed still exist. The dealer said that BMW recommended to replace part of the power steering fluid with lubrisol? They said that this is suppose to help with friction. WHATTT?????? I told them that if the power steering unit cannot function on regular 100% ps fluid and it requires the LUBRISOL, then I think there is a problem with the power steering unit. Then again, not even sure if adding lubrisol will fix the freakin problem.

I also requested for a loaner as the car is not fixed and they said that they didn't wanna piss off other customers that has appointment for a loaner. My response, I am a pretty fckin pissed off customer now that's had an appointment with this same problem dating all the way back to June. In short, I got a loaner.
