Active steering initialize/Inpa AFS module miscommunication

Hey everyone,

Just replaced an active steering rack on a 2008 328i and now the car is stating active steering is initializing. Have tried turning the wheel left and right multiple times to lock with no luck. Upon driving, the dsc light comes on along with the brake light and all codes relate to the active steering not ready Have reset the steering angle sensor and when I try to get into the active steering module, I get the following error, "Module not found AFS_e90. AFS_e70 was found." or something along that line. When I click next, it goes back to the main screen in Inpa.

Is there any way to get it to recognize the right module and if so, is there an option in here to initialize or reset to get rid of this error??

Any input would be great!

Do you not just drive for 50 miles or so? I think the faults will disappear. If not use Rheingold. (ISTA D)

Drove around for about 20 miles with no luck. Maybe need some more driving but I'll give it a shot. Unfortunately don't have access to ISTA... Thanks for the response!

Looks like you installed an E70 AFS into an E90. INPA is complaining because they use different .prg files in order to communicate. Try Ediabas (tool32) and load E70.prg and see if the module responds to FS_lesen for instance.

As for initializing the AFS as I remember it, you select the job "start_lwg_init" and then drive at 20-30 kph with slight left and right steering input (10-25 degrees slalom).

Did you ever resolve this?

I have a customer whos got the active steering initializing error message.

When i tried to see whats happening via INPA

I get the " FAS90 not responding - FAS70 found"

I am well versed with INPA and WinKPF, Tool32 -----

I just want to know if this was resolved --
