First time to the big apple
Need help from this regional forum.
I'm taking a friend that has never been to the big apple. I'm planning the usual spots: Statue of Liberty Ground zero Empire state building Rock.. center Any other suggestions on where to take her? Also, how about places to eat? shows to see? Thanks in advance.

Obnoxiously funny Broadway show - Avenue Q
Cheap but famous eats - Gray's Papaya hot dogs Cheap eats - Chinatown Moderately priced food/drinks, but artsy/trendy atmosphere - Williamsburg, Bklyn and the Dumbo area Pricier Eats - Peter Luger, Union Square Cafe, Blue Water Grill, Tao, Asia De Cuba, Nobu

Take her to John's Pizza on Bleecker Street in the West Village. Great NY pizza and a great neighborhood to walk around.

Rice to riches has some good rice pudding...not sure what part but i think they have a website...DO NOT go on the empire state building tour, its jam packed and is a waste of time, def tourist trap..same goes for status of liberty....i suggest walking a lot to get a real feel for the city....chinatown has really good chinese food, as one would imagine....there is just so much I can't really pinpoint one thing.
definetly go to central park for a walk, and hit up the museium of natural history...its awesome. that alone will be a ton of stuff for one day and you will be exhausted from walking. the area around washington square park is nice...as well as soho. the "bodies exhibit" near the south street seaport is interesting..a lot of anatomy-type stuff in detail which can gross you out. im a long islander and go to the city maybe 4 times a year....which is not all that much. |
