Yes and no, this package only costs $500. In terms of cost, I think that is pretty darn fair for 20 hp and the black grills

LOL at the idiots who are so bitter they have an older car and can't order this. 20 horses, 32 torque + oem black grills for $550? Yea, sign me up if I liked the sedan and was in the market.

Sure, this package costs BMW zero cents more to produce than a 335i without it, but the gain to the consumer is big.

But I agree that BMW needs to start offering a handling package or something to step up in their weak areas. If they offered a handling package that would drop ride height, have stiffer sways and wider wheels/tires with EDC or a real LSD, I'd be all over it at a price tag of 2k+.

How are people idiots and salty? And how cant they order it? People are kind annoyed with the price even though they have the ability to add it to their car.

BMW already offers what you wanted, but not the price you are asking for.

It's called an M3.

The price to retrofit an 07 335i for new software PK "stage 1" (with new DME) is slightly over $2K (Cdn). My local BMW dealership is installing one this week (first time) but suggested to call them back to touch base on it. I was looking into this option as I still have a couple years of warranty left.

So I just read through all 8 pages of the thread and I still don't know what the dealer installed cost really is....

Has anybody received a reliable and accurate quote from their dealer?

No, because the retrofit kit pricing has yet to be announced. It's a software update and grilles. So the actual pricing of install will probably be low. As the press release says it will be "similar" to the price of the package.

Everything that I have been reading and seeing here suggests the full PPK pricing (hardware and software) which is the only thing on BMWNA's site.

Just heard back from my local dealer and he says that the retrofit can only happen with models that have the M Sport Package installed. This would eliminate me, as I only have the sport package.

Somehow I didn't catch this fact when looking at all the posts.

Guess it will be back to the original plan of going aftermarket for performance gains.

What dealer did you speak with? Any pricing info? BMW of Peabody told me last week that they had heard of the package but didn't have any information on when the retro fit may be available or pricing.

I just received an email from my SA at BMW of Sudbury.

No info on pricing or availability since he says it isn't compatible with my car.

I think I read that somewhere, because it needs to have some obscure thing that only the M-Sport package has.

Where did you get this info, and which dealer. I'd love any and all info you or they have on the retrofit kit.

Is the increased top speed included in the sport package or just m-sport? If just M-Sport, that may explain the limitation. I always thought M-Sport was strictly aesthetic (as compared to sport package).

I have only the regular sport package, and it states: High Speed Maximum on my options list, code is 0840, so it is included it seems.

Huh, don't know why it would only be offered only to those with msport.

Anyway, I'm really eager to hear some confirmed pricing on this kit here in the US, hopefully we'll get some information soon.

I'll look at my invoice when I get home and see what it says.

So I heard back from my local dealer who just received a part number (11-12-2-219-488) and pricing info for the US Market: ~$1,200 installation included.

I suspected it would be in this range (based on what the Canadian market posters reported), but to me it's not a no-brainer at this price. I'm definitely concerned with maintaining my warranty and I'm willing to pay a premium to do so, but there are fairly modest gains with this kit, especially with the lower torque figure for the manual. I'll have to give it some thought.

Rustler,

That's the same part number my SA gave me in mid-July for my MSD81-equipped '08. Suggested pricing at that time was also around $1,150. That was before BWM 'held off' on the release of the Stage 1 Kit forcing us to wait for the anticipated pricing announcement.

Still waiting...

www.realoem.com has this part # as the performance power kit for MSD81, looks to be consistent with what the dealer told me. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...=11&fg=95&hl=2

When you say "still waiting..." are you suggesting that this isn't the US pricing for the Stage 1 Kit that is the subject of this thread?

I gave the go-ahead to order the Stage 1 Power Kit in early July. It was ordered, but the software disc never came in.

After a few weeks of waiting and a few calls by the SA to BMW, BMW sent him the following email:

"The Stage 1 Power Kit (software only) will be available in mid-August. Note: A special introductory price will be offered for the Stage 1 kit when it first becomes available. Keep an eye out for an Aftersales bulletin within the next week or two announcing pricing details."

My SA said he would contact me as soon as he received the Aftersales bulletin. To my knowledge, that bulletin and/or the mid-August special introductory pricing have not been released.

That's what I'm still waiting for.

Well, that would be great, a lower price is certainly worth waiting for.
