3 Stage Intake Onwer: Throttle Response
need some feedback from 3stage intake owner.
for some reason at WOT i cant really feel each stage been kick on. at 40-60 percent throttle in i can feel each stage been kicks on very well, but just not at WOT. how does your 3 stage feel? can you feel each stage kicks on very sharply at WOT?

Mine has adapted and is smooth no matter what throttle amount. Just a constant pull to redline.

My experience is similar to yours - I only feel the flaps activating under part throttle. However I haven't even got through a full tank of gas since installing the manifold and have no tune yet.

I reset the adaptaions for the engine and transmission after I installed the manifold and ran the tune. You will need a bav tool to do that though.

I can't feel any specific stage... it feels very linear to me.

the flaps are operated at rpm trigger points. The lower flap opens around 3000rpm, and the upper flap is around 4100 rpm or so, where both stay open to redline. They are both closed under 3000rpm. The flaps are either 100% open or 100% closed, there is no in-between setting. I think the difference people are feeling at part throttle is that the volume of air in the manifold is different, which has an effect on the resonance properties of the flaps opening and closing.

On WOT, I can only feel it at certain times. Mainly when I hear the "supercharger" sound at 5k to redline and you can feel it kick in at WOT if you're in an incorrect gear (i.e. if I was in 3rd gear going 20 and I do a full throttle pull, you feel the torque build up at 3k to 5k and from 5k its a smooth pull to redline)

thanks for all the feedback, I kinda poke around the german 130i forum and folks there have the same concern, so i guess its normal for 3 stage to react this way.
