There is a tuner for sale in the classifieds. YOu would need it wired and coded from the dealer.

Your stealership is bogus. I bought my Sirius sat radio kit from an online vendor, and then had my local stealer's service department do the install and coding (they only charged me 75 bucks more to do the install & coding versus just the coding, so I let them deal with it).

Try a different stealership.

One way or another you have to get the coding done, and only a dealer can get the coding changes permanently in the BMW system, from what I have been told. If you have a buddy do it in the "grey" market, you will lose the changes if you ever have a dealer perform a service that includes a recode.

If your car is truly pre-wired, the cost here in Canada is $615 at the dealershipand this includes the first your subscription fee as well as updating your car with the latest firmware for the car.

I had it done last month.

Is that $615 Canadian? With the way that the US government overspends, that might be $1800 USD by now...

Just buy a coding cable and learn how to DIY. It's not too difficult, head over to the coding section if you want to learn how.
