Both my E90 and wifes TT are bought, paid for and owe us nothing at all, so those smug wazzocks in their more powerful motors can grin all day but the majority are paying every month for the privelidge.

Most do care what other people think, slaves to advertising and branding whether we like it or not

And what you loose in depreciationeach month is probably around a typical monthly finance cost. Each to their own.

It's down to choice - there are many reasons for choosing a specific car...

For example, I would have settled for a 520d without any problems, but because I did not like the oval singular exhaust pipe, I went one up - not to look down on smaller engined models, it was purely a matter of taste. As for E90 popularity ... yes, they are popular... but draw the line between popular and common - these words might imply the same thing, but in two different ways

When I owned a mini and drove past other mini's, most would beep, flick lights and acknowledge the other, don't think comparison ever came into it, just a mutual camaraderie.

I'd love an M5 and a Ferrari 458. I can't afford to run the former and I can't afford to buy the latter (let alone run it). In that respect my 335d is "poverty spec". Admitted earlier that I had used the wrong terminology when it came to the term 'snobbery' shame you cannot just admit that 'Poverty Spec' is perhaps a bit of a 'slur' towards certain model/trim level owners on here also.

Not sure about that argument as the new car on finance will still depreciate on a monthly basis, also my (<<BMW Snob mode on>>paid for<<BMW Snob mode off>>) car is 5 years old now so my depreciation curve is probably a lot lower than that of a brand new E90, especially come next year when the new 3 series comes out.
