I'm in bits, just left my dog at Vet hospital. UPDATE
I'm devastated. Some of you know I moved out of home
4 months ago but never less still consider the labs as my dogs as I grew up with them. Max is nearly 11 years old and is a heathly and well dog, still spritely and showing no signs of age. Out of the blue last week he had two major siezures. Awful my mum said. He had tests and come back clear. He then a week later had some more. Been refered to vett college and they said he needs brain scan monday. But mother rung me this morning he is wobbling and falling over alot. I said sod Monday it could be too late if he deterioates so I said I would come over and take him immediately. He was fine in vets although nervous. They asked to keep him in as they gonna MRi him and also get fluid from his spine. If they find a tumour they gonna inject it in his brain with cheamo. I'm so scared. So it was awful leaving my georgeous boy. Mum was in bits too. So scared because we lost a 7 month old lab pup 11 year Ago when she never came back from a vet college! My other lab millie was such a good girl when we left she usually cries but it's like she knew Max is Ill and needs to go! Fingers crossed for my Maxy boy please!

Hated losing both my dogs over a very short period of time, divorce was far easier. Chin up as long as YOU know that they have had a great life leave it to them. Best of luck to your lab |

Echo the above. Poorly pets are a real heartache.
Good luck.

Fingers crossed, some people see them as 'just a dog' but imo they are a big part of the family!
Hope he GWS and makes a full recovery Any pics of him?

Life is cruel mate
Life is fucking bollox mate , heartbreaking news ! so sorry carl .
Lost my Father on the 12th Oct to a fucking brain tumour diagnosed on july 5th and gone in 12 weeks . It will come as no help at the moment but in a few weeks go get a new Lab puppy it will help you grieve and the new pup will be a good distraction.I hope Max gets better but fear the worse mate , Brain tumours are very nasty Worst news possible when they have given you unconditional love and you are helpless as it is a complicated area to have a tumour , My 4 year old Beagle was diagnosed with mass cell tumour the same week as my fathers tumour was found,I didn't think it could get any worse ,but time is a great healer , we had 12 wonderful weeks with dad before he was taken for a special job upstairs .Snoop is ok at present but i am seriously dreading the day we have to act, The vet said we will know when its time ,I was totally irrational for several weeks but my wife said Snoop doesn't know there is anything wrong but he has changed because i keep spoiling him with treats etc ,he follows you everywhere waiting for anything he can scrounge , he's actually gone from being a good dog to a bloody pain .I love him to bits still . all the best Carl ,thinking off you at this trying time |

Sorry to hear the bad news matey - the main thing now is preventing suffering for the dog and celebrate all the fun you have had with him and the joy he has obviously brought you all over the years
We have three cats, I have had mine for 15 years now, and would be gutted if I lost him so can sympaphise with you. Chin up buddy |

would echo all of the above .... poorly pets are very difficult times to cope with
try and get extra cuddles in if you can, and think of the happy 11 years you've given him.

I wish you all the best. Having just lost our beloved 14 year old Lab to cancer, I know exactly what you're going through.
My wife couldn't stand the emptiness in the house, so we recently rescued another Lab from the local Humane Society. Losing a pet is one of the hardest things I've had to deal with.

God Awful mate. I feel for you.
I refer to all of my dad's dogs as mine and it is terrible when they go. This was the pick of the bunch, Oscar. In the picture you can see him favouring his right leg. It turned out to be bone cancer and he was 'put down' the day he was taken to the vet with little to no warning. I never knew a dog who craved human affection so much. He was 6. I agree with the advice about getting a new dog after a bit but not another of the same breed as comparisons are inevitable. In a bit of gallows humour every time I get a phone call telling me the dogs gone. I say 'Can we get a puppy'. Mum thinks I'm heartless.
