What I mean is it goes all the way through. I mean, yeah, the lighter fits in there but can't hold it. My question is, What is it really intended for? Besides, with all due respect, a hole by definition is an opening to something. Wheather there is something inside the hole or none makes it hollow.

I dont think you get the front passenger cig socket unless your car has the extended 12V socket pack. If you have that then you will have two sockets in the back too next the rear vent in the middle.
