Turbo?

Hey everyone, I'm working with an '07 328xi Coupe [e92] and I'm looking for a turbo, I don't want some random $100.00 eBay turbo that does absolutely nothing, I want something that will fit and something highly recommended..

BUT ANYWAYS

I'm having trouble finding one for my car, if anyone has any recommendations, I'd appreciate it

Best option would be to just get a 335i.

I originally wanted a 335 but just ended up getting a 328.. Wasn't a money issue, just an unfortunate spur of the moment issue

if money was no issue, then sell it and buy a 335. your better off doing that then dumping tens of thousands of dollars into a 328. you can sell your car, and buy a 335 for another 3-5 grand more, spend another 2,000 on mods after that. if your going to turbo your 328 get ready to dump over 7-8 grand plus labor costs. The BMW n52 engine is not capable of handling boost. Magnesium block wont take kindly to it. Your only option for a turbo e9x BMW is a 335i.

Buy a Subaru, they love the boost! You can make the n54/55 guys cry in an STI.

You can always wait for Gavin to finish his S/C. He has taken his time w/ it, but supposedly he will be complete pretty soon. That would give you atleast 300HP.

If it works successfully, a few tuners may jump on board as well. I know AA, ESS and a few others said no, but they are all about making money so its likely they will eventually change their mind if Gavin can put out one that works.

They are "all about making money"? Really... Is that how it works?

1. AA/ESS nor any other reputable tuner will not develop a turbo or blower just because some guy on e90post made it happen. Oh wait, it already did happen... ARMA. Look how that one turned out.

2. Regarding your comment on "making money", I assure you they've already done a back of the envelope calculation on a rough breakeven number and already determined it's not worth it. They're not going to half-a$$ a kit so knowing what it will cost to the end user, they already know half the members here would not drop that kind of change. You have posts here all the time "if they developed a kit I'd buy it..." Add those guys all up, that's probably 20 interested (not even confirmed) buyers. TWENTY... out of how many 325/328/330s? Think of how many juice boxes, accessports, etc that have been sold. The margin on those units are MULTIPLES higher... and yet you'd think AA/ESS would bother creating a kit that costs 10x for a fraction of sales volume?

I swear, everytime I read something in the NA tuning thread... take out maybe 5 guys, it's like the blind leading the deaf. Self-proclaimed experts talking about how LSD's transformed their daily whip, using ricer additive math talking about how an AA tune on top of another piggyback will yield such results, removal of charcoal filters netting x hp. It's just stupid ridiculous.

End of day if Gavin finishes a kit, more power to him and to those who buy. But don't expect reputable tuners to follow pursuit and create a market for forced induction. It's just NOT happening.

Sounds like you're having a bad day there buddy, lol. I'd rather be an optimistic that something will be developed 'eventually'.

As for them being out to make money, yes they are out to make money. When the market dictates opening up new sales channels to bring in revenue, any businessmen with common sense will do that.

Seeing that BMW is going F/I on the 3/4 series, their ability to fully exploit profits from the engine becomes limited. No more building of S/C's for the F30/F32...etc. Meaning... a majority of profits would have come from tuning & parts sales. Which is great... however, they would have to find a way to diversify themselves... meaning looking for additional areas they would exploit.

I may be wrong on all of what I stated above, but it is a possibility. Being in the financial sector, many things were once 'taboo' to profit off of, but when the buck tightens, you expand in areas you once said 'no' too (not talking about the crazy mortgage stuff).

Stay optimistic and things will find a way to happen.

+1 this and the 128i forum needs more searching than posting.
All power options on market have been discussed, we are better off moving to the suspension forum or the dealer lol

I like threads that talk about upgrading maintenance pieces, made me find a 2011 waterpump part number that can be a more reliable item. I have searched e46 forums and e36 e46 m3 forums for cool info too to find magnaflow exhaust manifolds. Next is idea could be usa air box mods

Not having a bad day, I'm just frustrated with the accumulating number of crap threads in this section of the forum. I bet you 90% of threads in this section fall under

1) AA vs whoever
2) Updates on MWW
3) How to do a "dual" exhaust
4) Can I turbo/sc my n52?
5) BMW Performance exhaust/intake vs whatever aftermarket

And it's this "optimism" that you refer to that just perpetuates the unbelievable depth of retardness associated with these noob 101 topics. As andrey gta mentioned, the only informative threads in this section is regarding maintenance. Everything else is just a result of new owners too lazy to conduct a search. This NA section is a JOKE. You literally could delete 90% of threads here and just create a single sticky for the 5 topics I just listed and no new threads would ever need to be created.

You're in finance, so am I, cool.

But I've got an N51 so it will probably require some welding.
