Low batt after installing OEM alarm?
I just installed the hardware for the OEM alarm today, but I haven't gotten around to coding the car.
I noticed the low battery indicator on my instrument cluster and the clock was reset on the car (NEVER happened before). Is this related? Anyone else experience this? Is it because the parts are all connected but I haven't coded the car? Also, I noticed the lock/unlock beeps and the clown nose is blinking even though I didn't code it yet. Help MUCH appreciated. |

Anytime you have the door open
Or are working around and in the car .
The car reamains awake and ready to go . This means the 10 or more microprocessor and associated boards are powered up. If you monitor the voltage on a good battery it will drop .2 to .3 volts as soon as you unlock the doors . So if you are doing extended work you may want to put the car on a trickle charger or disconnect the battery. These cars are battery hogs and you see the low battery issue coming up over and over in the threads on these boards. http://bmwcoders.com/forum/3-er-8/bm...1-e92-e93-291/ If you are interested on how this works go here and read the electrical pdfs |
