they would never open up your ECU. In the most extreme circumstance they would... but it is such a pain in the ass to get to it, and I have never heard of the dealer opening it up

the only reason to open the ECU is if your car is fried, everything is done through the OBDII port on the cars now and the dealers go remove 12 screws and 3 panels to check. |

Similar benfits for cars with a manual trans as auto?
Also, my car recently developed a shakey idle that can't be tracd, I heard this bumps the idle up a bit, is that true? |

When I installed mine the ecu had already been accessed by the dealer, it was a CPO. I noticed a clip missing. The previous owner was a 40 year old women, so i doubt she was opening the ecu compartment. Plus I can get to the ECU in 5 minutes now, i do work on cars, and most work requires removing the cowl. Basically if you are having major work done under warranty it's smart to remove the pbx. Oil changes and other minor things like brakes are fine, but i'm 90% percent sure someone on this board got caught with it.

I have a 330i manual. Bought a PBX at Bimmerfest yesterday and installed it, noticed a little better throttle response at first, then got home and set it on map 3. What a world of difference, I can't wait to drive my car again today. I highly recommend!

my impressions on 325xi 6sp w/ intake:
i was reluctant for a while but finally did it and never regretted it. if you can read you can install this. took me about 90 min. throttle mapping is awesome, i keep it at 60% - map2. after a few days i really noticed a few extra horses from the performance tuning, it feels like the flatter spots of the power curve were smoothed over and the engine has such a sense of urgency now that its super addictive. and no joke, i honestly noticed the exhaust note sounded deeper and gruntier, as if the explosions were more rich or complete. basically before pbx the gas pedal was a dead floppy fish and now it feels like a lean muscular stallion! |

I have a 2006 330xi with Auto and so far I really like it. I was definitely a big difference with the before and after. Like the others have said already, the pedal was like a floppy fish, but now its a hell of a machine! I will be getting the intake soon so I can give some more information then. Regardless, even with an auto, I really enjoy it.

Just do it. I did it about a week ago and it makes your car feel like a totally different animal. Its the best thing you can do if you want to have alittle performance and fun with the car.
If you do the Powerbox it's addicting and you might want to do more. I'm doing an intake tonight and going to get Craven's New Exhaust he is coming out with. It never stops. |
