Multi-Stage Water/Meth Injection (Compound Turbos)
I am working on a water/meth setup using TorqueByte, which has a lot of controls for multiple w/m pumps, solenoids, and configurations. I haven't seen anyone running a stage of w/m between the LP and HP turbos, on compound turbo setup (with these engines, that is). Does anyone have any information or maybe links to someone that has done this?
Really just wondering if the performance gains are worth the cost (though with torquebyte, cost is literally a nozzle, solenoid, and tubing) or if "cost no object" it's just negligible performance gain? I'm running a stepped intercooler but have not gone to an R90 pump. Even at the track, I don't ever have any issues with IATs or EGTs, so I'm really only looking at w/m for whatever little bump I can get in power. |

Thanks but I need LSD and some other stuff before I do any fueling mods. |

You've got a better chance at blowing up with meth over a 50 shot. Goodluck.

I'm running Torqbyte in my car with a kind of 2 stage setup. I have a small nozzle that kicks in early, then a big one running off a solenoid that comes in a little later. I have a couple switches in the car. One turns the whole system on and off and the other enables the solenoid. In the picture below, the green light is on when the pump is running; the blue light is on when the solenoid is engaged. The idea is that I can leave the small nozzle on all the time as a "cleaning" mode to keep carbon at bay, and have both available whenever I want. In reality, though, I leave both on all the time.
BTW, I collected the same hate from the NOS crowd when I asked questions about mine. Ignore them. They seem to be unable to understand that some people want the power bump, cleaning effects, and improved EGT all the time, not just for a few seconds when you hit the button (which then means a trip to get the bottle filled). Of course you can generate a bigger number with NOS. Duh. But rather than listen to the actual question, they just knee jerk to yell NOS! NOS! NOS! anytime somebody asks about water/meth. Also, I can say for sure that it does make a noticeable difference. I've run out of 50-50 mix a couple times and thought, "Seems like I'm missing some low-end," before realizing I needed to check the bottle. Finally, nobody has yet explained how running w/m is "unsafe" on these. If you're in a gas car and have tuned around it, you bet it's risky. But in these, what possible "danger" to the engine can there be? The pump could just run when the car is sitting, I've heard, which could cause a problem. But with the Torqbyte, it's only possible to turn on when the car is running. It would take a pretty far-out scenario for it to do anything bad. I'm not sure why some people hate w/m so much that they feel the need to make up downsides to scare people. Last edited by E.Murray; 09-06-2022 at 12:25 PM.. |
