E91 Tourings on Eibach Pro-Kit Pic Request
Hi all.
I'm new here. Although not to BMWs - been driving them my whole driving life. I will do a proper intro post soon enough. I am about to embark on a new chapter - my first ever Diesel. First ever Auto, too. And first ever Touring also. Yes, I have reached that stage in life, and the V8 M3 is sold. Haha. Anyway... I'm due to be picking up a rather lovely Alpine White LCI 330d Sport Touring this weekend. I couldn't help myself, and although I haven't even seen the car yet, I have already bought some BMWP Black Grills and a set of Pro-Kit springs. I hope I've made the right choice in my springs. I am not after super-low, just a nice even stance fr. and rr. a little lower than the stock M-Sport suspension. Can you all please indulge my curiosity and show me what I can expect to achieve, by posting your Tourings on Pro-Kit pics? Even more helpful would be if they are on OEM 18s. But post anyway if not LCI Tourings are such great looking cars, I cant wait to see what you got. Fire away... |

Car sounds nice bud 👍 but I'm pretty sure the pro kit will look pretty much the same as stock m sport suspension, the ride will be nicer but same height

Congrats on the car. You will love it. Smooth laid back driving and quite quick when you want it to be.
Until recently I had a prokit and bilstein dampers on my E91 330dA. I then changed to a Bilstein B16 IRC and can highly recomend it. Before the ride was a bit harsh in the city but perfect on the freeway. Now I have a smoother ride on bumpy roads and a really firm ride on the freeway. best of both Worlds. And you can adjust the drop to your liking :-)

Did you end up ordering the B12 set for your Touring? I ordered a set this past weekend for mine, just have to wait three weeks to get them.

The box has been sitting in the garage for two months, and just today I ordered replacement parts for the suspension. Have had no time.

none at all with the proper tire for the car, I think they are 225/40/18 & 255/35/18. If you run with the stock winter M3 winter tire they will rub in the front I think they were 235/35/18 which rubbed.

I think that photo was taken when the car was on stock struts with the Eibach lowering springs.
Since then I have bought and installed the Bilstein B12 Cup kit and I have to express my shear disappointment on these damper. After just one winter season the chrome off started to flake off the piston, not to mention how rusted they were and now after the 2nd winter the front struts are totally gone and need to be replaced. But the most frustrating thing of all is that I tried to get these replaced under Bilsteins Limited Lifetime Warranty and apparently this is just normal ware and not covered under warranty. Below are the pics from last year in the summer after I told my mechanic to check the struts because I thought something was loose since I was getting an odd thump sound when the strut decompressed on initial acceleration and then when you applied the brake. Also for anyone going with the B12 Cup kit on the E91 X-drive, it did have a bit of rake. The front end was definitely higher on the Bilstein struts and Eibach spring then the stock struts and Eibach Spring, so to bring it back down I ended up installing the perches from a non x-drive 328i model which lowered it back about 1cm. I have to figure out what to install next on the wagon because this winter just killed what was left of those front struts, but one thing is for sure that I will never touch Bilstein ever again.

Have you thought of trying Ohlins Road & Track? Had these on for several winters now in the UK (salted roads) with no issues other than some discoloration to the outer tubes (which are stainless steel and clean up nicely with a light rub with wire wool).

Although H&R Sports were alright whIle rebuilding my E30 coilovers, the reviews here made me lean towards Eibach - with your pics sealing the deal. I personally think Konis are a good option and have ruled out the floaty feeling FSDs since I'd rather have more constant firm but smooth and predictable over compromised for comfort. |
