I thought you said if I skipped the cleansweep and coded the HU for hifi, then I needed to amp all 6 speakers?
You'll need to amp all speakers you want to use. If you "delete" your rear stage / speakers as many suggest, you only need a 4-ch amp since you won't have any music playing from the rear speakers.

If you want sound from the rear (even at a reduced volume), then you'll need a 6 -ch amp.

Of course another non-ideal way to get away with a 4-ch amp and keep your rears is combining your front and rear speakers to the same 2 channels. Not recommended though as you won't be able to tweak the levels for front and rear separately and will definitely mess with your sound stage (even if you want to keep rear passengers happy).

Does that help clarify?

One of the technic solutions with his harness is
to just leave the rear speaker on the OEM deck
for the BASE system. Most of the stereo purists here
seem to agree that rear speakers don't serve much of
a real purpose musically.

Ok, maybe i'll look for a good deal on the cleansweep + a cheap 4 channel amp. I don't want to delete all the sound from the rear.

So I'm looking for a upgrade. Here is what I was thinking. Earthquakes under the seat amped with a jl-audio 2 channel. Then the two fronts and the two back once with a 4 channel jl-audio and that's it. Mb -quarts I use to love them but when they where original. Know this new once are just not made right . Does anyone know where I can get a wiring harness for my radio with two RCA's out?

And what are some good quality speakers, not extremely expensive but good for there money.

Battery can it Handel two amps . That's the other thing I'm worried about . The battery.

Don't see why you wouldn't want a 6 channel JL xd

Don't see why you wouldn't want a 6 channel JL xd
that has pretty much been the standard solution till
the Helix 82dsp came along.
Jl makes the xd series in a lot of combinations with up to
8 channels.
The better speaker sets are not cheap.
The MBQuarts BMW kit seem to be the most bang for the Buck.
On the higher end probably a Jehnert kit.

I have been told you can run up to 2000 watts with no trouble.

Since you're comparing everything by price only, remember that up until a few months ago, the MB Quart system was $600. Since it's been discontinued, there is one dealer blowing out the last of the inventory for fairly cheap.

having replaced speakers and headunits in every car i have ever owned i would highly advise against using crimp connectors. they are terrible at making a good connection and usually end up not working after a while with vibration from driving. just my opinion. I will also be following this thread now because i just bought a 2011 328i. I only drive the car on weekends but even then i would like something better than the base system.

Hey OP, you do know that Don aka 6spdcoupe sells Jehnerts right? Way to be a douche to one of the best electronics installers and contributors to this section of the forum. Good luck with that stereo install and using those MB Quarts.

Did I miss something? How was OP being a douche? I didn't see any disrespect, and it's up to OP if he chooses to go to a different brand (MB Quart) instead of Jenhert.

We can only lay out the choices here

We can only lay out the choices here.
Everyone is free to do what they want.
A lot of people have budget restraints.
But if you bought an expensive car and you
have a sense of proportion you might not want
to cheap out to much .
If you want to run your own experiments that's OK to
but you must realize they are experiments.

Im so sorry if i offend someone, but you are in not right to call me like that, please save your bias comment to yourself because i did not know anything about "Don" or whoever that sr is.

Last time i recall, it is still my choice to what i choose to do with my own car that i paid total cash for it.

In other line, guys, i tried contact technic but he ran out of adapters, im waiting for him to have them restock. Will update, almost have all the speakers and everything to start doing my install its been slow because of the buying process and stuck most of the time at my job... My vacations are coming so, definitely will be installing it.
