THE FOLLOWING IS AS OF TUESDAY 4.22.08 Okay, so i've been getting various PM's from various forums regarding the locations to the caravans and the times. I set up a chat with all the leaders and decided to make life easier and post a master thread concerning the above issues. Here are the final plans for this year's bimmerfest caravans:

SAN DIEGO =
The San Diego Portion of the caravan will be the same from last year, at the UTC shopping center located at:

4545 La Jolla Village Dr.
San Diego, CA 92122
TAKEOFF TIME IS 530AM SHARP BE HERE EARLIER

The Orange County portion of the caravan will be at the IKEA (costa mesa) parking lot located at:

TAKEOFF TIME IS ESTIMATED AT 645 (DEPENDENT ON SAN DIEGO) PLEASE BE HERE BY 600AM

The Los Angeles portion of the caravan will meet in the parking lot behind Ross, located at:

Sherman Oaks, CA 91423
TAKEOFF TIME IS EXPECTED TO BE 700AM SHARP, BE HERE EARLIER

this just in (4/23/08), we have the guys from e90post.com also joining in...they will be meeting and driving to the Los Angles meet point at ROSS, where they will wait for my guys from orange county/san diego. when we drive up from los angeles there will be yet another caravan further west on the 101 that will be joining us as well on the freeway. here are both address' and the links to the meet points.

The Inland Empire portion of the caravan will meet at the Sam's Club parking lot behind Arby's on Milikenontario, ca located at:

***each location has posted threads for each individual location with detailed maps on how to get to their respective locations. this thread is to clarify on what the final plan is as of 4/22/08. please feel free to mapquest/google/yahoo/etc maps on your personal preference on how to get to the above locations, the caravan leaders will take care of the rest. we will each have a decal on our front windshield that will say _______ caravan leader. so pretty much follow that guy and all will be okay. lets keep it organized on the freeway and obey the speedlimits just all us from california and the WESTCOAST always do. and remember that we do this once a year and go all out once a year, so lets get as much cars on the freeways as we can, here's where your time being a part of this worldwide BMW community comes into play. old/new/modded or stock....lets make it count.***REMEMBER $20 AT THE GATE AFTER 9AM, WHICH IS WHEN DOORS OPEN. $40 BUCKS IF YOU WANT IN SOONER.

Sd will meet Oc and Oc will meet LA and from there is take off to SB.

I posted all this info in my old "official socal bimmer fest caravan" thread, so theres no confusion and everything is crystal clear for people, weather its redundant or not. I made that thread back in January, otherwise I would've never created it at all. Again, thanks E46HARLEY for taking the initiative to PM me with the official information!

to help answer the question about getting to LA in 15 min...

okay so i had a forum member ask the following:
"Ummm...am I missing something? How does the Orange County caravan leave at 645am and get to LA at 7am for that caravan?"

to which i responded...
"slack time my friend....if people are ready to leave by 7 then that means people will show up ON TIME....we've had problems with people showing up late and missing the caravan every single year...so this year we've taken out the time to give you some slack time knowing that OC/SD will probably not be right on time, but we'd like you to be just in case things go perfectly...unfortunatley i cannot control the weather/traffic/other obstacles that might get in the way....if people know we're leaving at 7... then they'll show up at 705...and if they get there at 705 rather than 7...then thats okay becuase realistically we're (LA) not leaving til about 715-725 when oc/sd actually get there...this also makes good timing becuase bimmerfest doors dont open until 9AM"

if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask...just though i'd give this as food for thought.

90% of people show up 10-25 minutes late every year..and thats how the Huge caravan we plan gets divided into 7 or more little ones. Also the timing for LA guys to merge with OC and SD was off last year which confused people even more.

If everyone shows up on time (even 5-10 min.) late..we can still manage to get everything setup the right way.
