UPDATE: The LED flicker has stopped. Only took a couple of days. I don't know if this is the car 'getting used' to the different bulb or something, but now the lights are on instantly without any flickering at at all. Very happy with them.

Also, the audio is well and truly bedded in now so I'll post a proper update on that when I have a few more minutes to write it down. In a nutshell: it's ace.

This is a great thread. What's the approximate cost of such a system? I've just bought an E92 and the base audio is bad, very bad!

For the DSP amp, Gladen speaker kit, harness, deadening and other install extras, between £1100-1200. Add either your own time to put it in, or cost for someone else to do it. As a DIY install, I'd reckon on 2 days to do it properly.

Hi Andy how're you getting on with the DSP, have you done any more tweaks to it?

Hi Ian.

Not yet but I'm going to change things a bit now the speakers are properly broken in. Where they've loosened up, I need to back off the gains a bit as they're more inclined to distort. Going to tweak the parametric but not much needed. I'll let you know.

Before reading your thread I was in the process of ordering the alpine kit and adding some mb quart subs, now you've got me thinking.
If I use an amp without dsp, how would you rate it against alpine setup?

The setup without the DSP would be regarded as excellent upgrade over stock. Superb levels of clarity and deep rich bass all in the correct proportions.

Same setup with the DSP option would be regarded as 'expert upgrade' for a user who is slightly more in tune with perfecting tonality, staging with use of DSP functions.

Its slightly unfair when comparing the Alpine to the Gladen setup, since Alpines do not come with the subs. That said customers who heard both went on to buy Gladen. Of course there is a cost difference though it didn't seem to deter anyone.

FWIW, I have had an non-DSP version in my E91 for well over a year. Considering I distribute Gladen in the UK and I haven't had the overwhelming urgency to switch to a DSP version.. yet!

Sounds like a plan
I don't mind coming up to mk, might be a bit far for Adam though.

I haven't tested DSP and non-DSP back to back, but in theory the DSP can make better use of the power due to the steeper and incredibly accurate crossovers. If tuned properly, this can be quite precise about what frequencies go where, and in conjunction with the parametric EQ could produce a system that performs better and higher volumes.

That said, it would be marginal. The Gladen kit handles the power well as it is. Incredibly well for a 4" midrange to be honest.

I'm way down south in Dorset but anyone would be welcome to have a listen if you're down this way! Still need to sort my hifi coding so it's a bit noisy with nothing going through it but it sounds ace.

As Mr Singh said, the Alpine isn't a direct comparison as no sub. And I believe it's considerably less power. I've not heard it, but have heard similar in the past and the Gladen/Mosconi kit is something else.

I'm happy to make the same offer as Andy but up in the north west. I have a full Gladen install with the 120.4 DSP driving the front speakers & a 120.2 the rear speakers, all supplied by Mr Singh with DSP settings file care of Andy. I've also had the hifi coding done & a Dension 500s fitted. If anybody wants a demo let me know.

I drive past mk a lot during my trips back to Sheffield so could always combine the two.

Mine certainly isn't the neatest install I've seen but at least it's hidden & does the job, I posted some pics here

The Dension 500s is only small & sits above / behind the glovebox.

"The only thing I don’t particularly like is the thumps & bangs I sometimes get when unlocking the car & the amps power up. I also get the odd thump sometime well after the key has been removed from the car, which I assume is something to do with the CanBus, I only noticed it because I was sat in the car reading & waiting for a client, it’s a shame the amps aren’t soft start/stop, is there anything that can be added in to the system that would accomplish this?"

Did you manage to resolve this?

Great thread Andy,

If you had to name one track that sounded really good on the system what would it be?
