best "Settings"

okay, so i was just about to race a new Audi S5, but when we both stepped on it, my 335is decided to lose traction and caused my car to jolt and not get the power. So that sucked.

What is the best way to take off like that? Sports mode and "S" mode (not manual)? Should i have turned off traction control ? advice ?

Thanks

Garage List
DTC off, Sport mode, manual shifting

Also, unless you are doing launch control, don't just step on it. The car has massive torque, feather the throttle a bit at the start to reduce wheelspin... then just step on it

So , just hold DTC until it says off correct ? not just pressing it once

No, just press it once.

Don't disable DSC (stability)... your car will just go sideways and loose traction even more. I meant to put it into DTC (dynamic traction). DSC off is fun, but probably not the best for time/speed/traction

Sure, no problem.

Launch control feature of the 335is

Sport, DTC, hold the break, smash the gas to the kickdown, car revs to 4500/5000RPM, release the break and GO

The 335is does not have a torque converter. It a full manual style gearbox (not planetary) with wet clutches that can shift like an auto under computer control.

Experiment with 2nd gear starts, traction control one push, sport button pushed, stick in sport gate. Use paddle to select 2nd gear which also leaves it in full manual mode. If you have a JB4 set the shift lights to 6000-6250rpm & TC off on startup. Most of above would also apply to the standard auto except that you can also torque brake it.

I also run with the kickdown switch blocked out with a small piece of wood cut on an angle.
