Exclamation M3 folding mirrors on 320: do I have to code them?

Hi guys,

a friend of mine just got M3 mirrors with auto-folding function and installed them on his 320 but they don't work.
That car before had manual folding, he bought all the wiring and various stuff for the automatic folding, installed and, in theory, coded them. But practically he never tried to use this option because he always had the manual mirrors, so these are the first auto mirrors he tries to use.

I thought they simply were plug 'n' play but they're not. Does anyone know if they need to be coded by BMW? I mean some other kind of coding beyond the one he already did for the wires, explained above.
Or maybe there's something wrong with the mirrors?

Cheers!
