New Winter tires DSC problem

I got some Blizzak LM60s installed last week on the stock 18" 313 wheels.
I'm using 225/40 square setup and am having an issue with DSC going off for no apparent reason.
I was driving around 70mph and tried to accelerate a bit to pass someone and the DSC went off and I couldnt gain speed, had the same issue a few minutes later when trying to do a quick acceleration at 60mph. Could not get rpms to go over about 2300.
Driving conditions were mid 40s no ice.

Did the installer do a bad job or is this an issue due to the rear wheels being wider than the current tires?

It may be the mold release compount the manufacturers use. It normally takes around 250 miles for it to wear off the tyres meaning that until then they'll be slippy.

i had same sort of problem with mine on every roundabout when i got brand new tyres.

as this guy says it will probs wear off after a few hundred miles mine did

I sure hope this is the issue. I have the exact same thing going on w/ my car. And when I accelerate through a turn it feels like the back end is sliding out on me. DSC kicks in, etc. It's really frustrating. Actually I was having a hard time keeping it straight in my lane on the expressway. Every time i corrected it felt like the back end was slow to respond. Then the thing felt squirmy.

Just got my new winters on Friday, so I'm hoping this disappears... if not, I'm not going to be happy!

Also, changing tires also mean different compounds. Kind of like switching from the soft to hard tires in Formula 1. Definitely have different handling characteristics.

Cool, hopefully this'll wear off then. Would suck getting performance winter tires and be limited to 70mph

Just to let everyone know... the problem did NOT go away for me. I ended swapping out the tiers for a different brand. I had originally gone w/ the Toyo Observe Garit KX. and I was NOT happy with the handling/stability. And these ARE performance winter tires.

I ended up going w/ the Dunlop Wintersport 3D (V Rated) and the handling is MUCH better, (still not as good as say the DWS all season) but We'll have to see how it handles the snow... still not enough to tell.

ive had some similar experiences when i switched to Mich PSS tires from OEM RFT's, the DTC going wild and cutting power, mostly in turns. I actually started a new thread recently asking the members more about this.

If they are still doing this after they break in you might try messing with the pressures. On my blizzak lm25 tires I found they'd do the same thing you are describing when running the recommended 33/41 psi for my year e90. When I dropped the rear down closer to the front, the rear end got less squirmy. What psi are you running?

Not sure the effect your wheel setup would have.. I am running a square setup on square wheels. Are you saying you are running square tires on staggered wheels such that your rear tire is smaller than the rim?

I'm having the same issues, on the same tires -- though I'm running 18x8 all the way around. I'm hoping that they just need to be worn in. Good luck.

i'm having the same issue. I'm running a square setup on my stock 18" rims. 225/40/18 Michelin X-ICE and the same issues. I figured i was running a 335 fully modded so thought maybe im just pushing too much power but this is bad. Tough to pass someone etc.. DSC lights keep flashing. My tires are worn in too. Ran them 3 months last year and 2 months so far this year! Snow and ice grip is awesome mind you.

Try with the DSC off and only DTC on,

you'll have some fun (and dangerous) time drifting and skidding around, even on dry surfaces.

I had the same issue when I replace mine with Dunlop Wintersport 3D.
With DSC on, it keeps on flashing in corners and hard accelerations.
With DTC on, it just drifts and skids.

Winter tires are never performance tires, even when dry, I guess.
