Ok, how old are your grandparents???

Only have one, and he's 100 yrs old, going on 101 in March! I hope I've inherited his genes.

Grandpa was 86 in Dec. Still has an amazing memory, 10 times better than mine currently. I seem to only remember things I like such as E90 or DC2 stuff.

Grandma is 75. Acts like shes not a day older than 50. Except lately she's having eye and knee problems.

BUMP, today, at 4pm, my grandfather, blessed w/ 100 yrs here on this earth passed away...... In the same hospital I took my first breath in he took his last.... at the same hour I was born. Doesnt' get any more ironic than that. God bless his soul.

My condolences E90-4life.

My only surviving grandparent is my Grandmother. She's 84, pushing 85.

Unfortunately she's in hospital at the moment. She caught chest infection just after Christmas, then collapsed on New Year's day. When we found her it was obvious to us that she'd had a stroke (my Mum had one about 16years ago and my sister's a nurse) so we got her straight into hospital. Then a couple of days later she had a truly massive heart attack. Amazingly, although she still has some way to go, she was moved onto a rehab ward last week and is walking again with a zimmer.

She's a tough old boot and continues to amaze us.

From the foreword of a book, that I read (just) at my Uncle's funeral last year:

And if I go,
while you're still here ...
Know that I live on,
vibrating to a different measure
-behind a veil you cannot see through.
You will not see me,
so you must have faith.
I wait for the time when we can soar together again
-both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to its fullest and when you need me,
Just whisper my name in your heart
... I will be there

I lost my grandmother who helped raised me and define my character from complications due to a stroke in 1996. October of 1996 I found out my wife was pregnant. My 2nd child was born July 13, 1997... the same day as my recently passed grandmother's birthday; bringing the circle of life and death at the same time for me. However our world lives I believe in fate and that things happen for a reason.

For those of you that still have your grandparents in your life, realize that they belong to a very special group that should be honored. For those of us that have lost them, not only should be they be honored but remembered forever.

Thanks for this thread and letting me remember all that she's done for me.

Absolutely, couldn't agree more. Grandparents are of an alomost defunct generation(at least mine), and the wisdom imparted to me from both my grandmother and grandfather(both moms side, ironically my fathers parents went before I was born or a little there after) will always be invaluable. From my grandpa telling me how I should treat a lady to my grandmothers profound and untouched cooking skills, as well as her sincere relationships that she had w/ various friends and associates... something you just don't find today in our dog eat dog/cut throat world today. Don't put your Grandparents on the backburner if they're still around folks, pick up the phone, arrange a lunch or something if you can, and even if you don't relate, sit and listen, it's well worth it. Times like those are priceless and can never be replaced.

Life can be a beautiful or an ugly thing, starts w/ the inside of you.

My grandfather lived in Brooklyn and he held a job there and drove to work everyday until he was 94. It's crazy how determined he was not to sit around and do nothing. He passed away at 96. My grandmother passed a few years before. My grandparents on my mother's side are both alive but I don't know their ages.
