afe dual cone vs. bms dci

please helppp tryin to make decision between the two!

i recently bought the afe dual cone but after hearing soe negative feedback im thinkin about goin with the bms dci instead.. can ne1 give me any support??

+ dci only $95!?!?! on burger's website???

The BMS DCI is a great deal at 95.00 and gives you proven dyno gains so can't go wrong.

We have them for 95.00 as well

Im a new 335i owner and I just installed the BMS DCI this past week and drove about 100 miles since. The difference is very noticable over stock. The install took about 30 minutes total but was very easy. If I had to do it again, I could install a BMS DCI in about 15 minutes. Besides, Terry over at BMS is a great guy to deal with.

I've done the aFe Dual Cone on two cars (135 and 335) and felt it was a real solid product. I like the design as it has a fully enclosed heatshield with the hood closed. With that said, if you are on a budget, the BMS DCI is not a bad option but not as complete as the aFe. We carry both depending on what you are looking for.

I think a lot of the negativity of the AFE is a myth. If you like it leave it on, I be hard pressed to believe you would lose power with the AFE.

If such would be true, you would easily lose just as much with a DCI.... assuming your on a tune.

A stock might lose power with either perhaps.

I have both!!! Lol. Honestly it's the same but I use AFE without heat shield and use oil filters not dry. I found a difference in sound and performance as heat shield causes some loss.

For the price go with BMS. Plus I find it looks more aggressive.

Bms dci. Did back to back dynos and lost power with the afe, even again After i drove 100 or w/e miles.
The dci gained power right away without the ecu learning bs.

I have heard this from a few customers about the AFE... Haven't tested myself as I run the BMS DCI.

Yes it is true, on a stock tune, a bms/afe DCI both cause a loss of hp. The stock intake is much more efficient on a stock setup. Intake is only needed, and will show gains(like the dyno graph shown above) when a tune is installed and needs a less restrictive intake. Notice the hp numbers are much higher than a stock 335.

maybe u are wrong a little i not lost any hp i am stock for time beeing and have bms dci (awaiting for v5) i gained about 5hp

By the visual I prefer AFE. BMS seems a pair of cone filters thrown in the engine bay.

The way I look at it is that with the AFE at least you're getting a decent amount of cold air given the integrated air box and how it's connected with the snorkel so the AFE is not sucking in nearly as much hot air as the cheap DCI setups. And the AFE looks a lot less home made under the hood as well (sorry, but I think the DCIs look just awful and home made - especially on a BMW). I was happier with my AFE than I had anticipated, especially performance-wise as I did notice a tangible, positive difference over the OEM intake - but I think that's largely due to my GIAC stage 2 tune. Without the tune, I don't think either intake would buy you much of anything and in fact, I would think the cheap DCI intakes would be even more detrimental on a stock car as there's not heat shield or air box like the AFE has. My AFE filter cones are just barely warm after a drive - just barely and as such, I think AFE's air box makes a significant difference.

AFE looks great under the hood... if you just going tune, intake... this is a good combo

DCI looks great on your time slip....if your going to upgrade fmic or use meth..this will allow more air to enter, more quicly. I believe that if you improve the cooling on the car that DCI will produce the most gains.

There is a Single cone offered by Burger... it is suppose to flow just as well and looks better under the hood than the dci IMO. Kind of an nice option that not too many people mention. BMS recently improved their single cone to allow more flow.

Well if you only care about looks that's fine. I would rather keep my money. Both are fine but I wouldn't pay extra for the aFe

both does the same job, as somebody even wrote with afe you lose power
