Quick kickdown question
Hey all, quick, and probably stupid, question -
I have a 07 335 with the AT (I know, I know, buy a MT..) This is my first AT BMW and I've gotta say, I hate the kickdown button. I have trained myself to not trigger it, I would like to choose my own gears, thank you Mr. Car. But I was talking to some schmuck at a local meet and he said the car doesn't go 100% WOT unless you're in kickdown mode. He told me that pressing the pedal all the way down - but just before the kickdown point - only gives you 90% throttle input. I know he is probably full of crap, but I've done a lot of searching and cant find a definitive answer one way or another. Can someone more knowledgeable than I lay this to rest? Thanks! |

Take a trip to Home Depot and get the Tank Bolt Washers and slip them over the pin behind the peddle.

Even when I don't use the kick down, my logs show that my pedal and throttle are at 100%.
I used to accidentally press the kick down, but I haven't made that mistake in awhile now |

I wish the kickdown didn't work in manual mode, but worked in sport or auto. Is this possible with a tune maybe? I do enjoy the feeling of when it downshifts and throws you back in your seat, but it can really screw you up in manual mode.

I got used to not going into kickdown, so it has not been an issue for me. I was at the dragstrip for the first time (beating up on a E90 FBO/JB4 with my Wedge only tune) and I kept hitting the kickdown hurting my times. I guess all the excitement got the best of me. I'll fork over the $1.85 to fix that problem.
