Stock Run Flat Tires for sale

Hey guys,
Picking up my freshly ordered e92 335i (w/ sport package, 18 in wheels) on the 12th of August at the PDC in South Carolina. I'm probably going to swap out the stock rubber for some Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics or Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec.

If anybody is interested in buying a set of stock RFTs with less than a 1000 miles (planning a road trip on the way back) let me know and we can work out a deal.

I'm in need of a set of 4. Are they Bridegstone RFT's?

Auction style it is.

Yep, seems that way.

I'm taking offers for two different circumstances:

1. I'm try to get the PDC staff to swap them out for me before I arrive. Doesn't look like that is going to happen. But I'm still holding out hope.

2. I may just wait for the 1200 mile oil change and switch them then, to leverage some efficiency.

IF your interested, feel free to PM offers for both: 1. New with no use and 2. With 1200 miles of very gentle wear.

Good timing on part, I guess.

BTW: They are of the Bridgestone variety.

be careful with those aftermarket tires. I have the Eagle F1 AS and they started producing an oscillating rumbling noise after only 5000 miles. Some feathering has occurred, which could be the cause. Rotating has not helped much, and you are supposed to rotate them every 5k.

I was debating on whether I should get the Goodyear Eagle F1's or stick with a rft. So is it fair to say that you don't recommend the GY's? Tirerack rated them #1 in their controlled test.

At this point that'd be fair to say. We'll see how my warranty request goes, though. They were great for the first 4k miles or so; much quieter than the RFT's and seemed to stick to the road even better. And NO tramlining, which always drove me nuts with the stock RFTs. I felt like I could put more torque into a launch when the Eagles were new, and because my RFTs only had ~10k on them and tons of tread left, I had a pretty good comparison. However, the noise issue is really souring me on them right now.

The TR rating (and price) is the reason I bought them, too. If I don't get some resolution on this, though, that TR rating is going to go down, that's for sure...

BTW I don't drive like a maniac or launch all the time, so that's not why they got messed up. Most of the time I drive on the very slightly aggressive side of average, but I do enjoy opening it up once in a while.

oh, one other thing. Get this. When I brought the warranty claim to the NTB service rep, after he was all out of answers, his response was, "these tires are not for this type of car, you need Michelin or else you will get road noise." You can imagine how the conversation went after that comment.

The PDC wont do it, no matter how hard you try. You're better off finding someone local down there and having them do the swap. You could probably get Tire Rack to deliver it to a shop down there if the shop agrees.

Or, just wait till you get home and go to Radial Tire

I think others have on this forum have mentioned some quality assurance issues with the Goodyears. Sucks as they otherwise would look to be, at least on the surface, really good tires.

:finger: Thanks asshole. (At least that's how I'm envisioning the ensuing conversation)

My CA is telling me the same thing. He did mention a tire shop in Silver Spring that would actually give me some credit for trading the run-flats in. How much, I don't know.

Some advice based on personal experience:

1. The PDC will NOT install any tires except those approved by BMWNA. That means runflats in the OEM size, period.

2. If you install any aftermarket tires and your car develops a problem with road noise, suspension noise, etc. your dealer will blame it on the tires. I know because I am having to buy another set of runflats to put back on my car in order to trade it in on a trade assist deal with BMWNA. This is turning into an expensive ordeal since I sold my runflats right after I drove my car home after my ED followed by a PCD.
